We Indians are a population of 130+crores that means, at least 50 cr houses and each have a diff system. Itna generalization over Indian culture on the basis of one serial? 😆

Yes there r anupama type families also ..n many families who prefer to cook than keeping maids and cooks. Then there r many , like my own in laws , who cannot function without servants and maids..

Speaking of maids , the culture of maids came when women shifted their focus from.home to working outside. Or not working at all..socializing etc...since maids r easily available plus home culture is changing, they have become a necessity in today's times. Not everyone make achars at home....in cities , zomato etc is so common...

We def can function without maids 😆 I personally believe that cooking and eating fresh is always better for one's health. The way we cook, the professionals don't. If anyone wants to eat and stay healthy, nothing like ma ke haath ka khaaNA. For other work like cleaning etc , def help is needed

Here in us, I never heard anyone ever had maid for daily work, in our community.

In my house of 4: I just make tea in morning goes with dry snacks and/or cereals, my husband packs lunch for me and himself, kids do not do breakfast.

Lunches are done at work, kids 12 & 15 years old help them selves ... cooks what ever they want....in vacation days, school days eat @ school.

After work, I cook dinner and my husband cleans dishes (dishwasher) & table-kitchen area ! If kids want what ever I am cooking ask me cook more or cook for them selves.... we are done within 1 hour (thanks to instant pots already set up in morning)!

I have seen more people having cleaning lady come in once or twice a week to clean the house as it’s time consuming

Balancing work/life in Canada is challenging as employers expect you to always be on call & then responsibilities of household. With our legendary winters, by 9pm every1 is exhausted.

We get 2 days off where we can breath a little, then back to daily grind.

However the reason a maid is not needed 24/7 is 1) cause it’s not affordable (2) there is more equitable division of labour

we have friends that have a live in nanny for their kids and she also does the housework. That’s okay as well as they can afford it and it gives them the needed help

One lifestyle isn’t better than the other

unfortunately what people aren’t getting is the reason ppl are pissed at Anupamaa and writers is because they are showing as Anupamaa’s way the BETTER way. That a woman is considered not a good role model unless she is managing the house and work life and everyone’s problems in the house single handedly.

It’s stupid and unrealistic

showing Kavya needing a 24/7 live in maid was done purposely because they have to do overdo everything. They could have shown her hiring someone to come and cook meals or clean the house. Instead the writers go the extreme route to show Kavya as wrong and Anupamaa as right

Main to mostly poha, upma , chille se breakfast mai kam chala leti hu and fir direct full mean banana hota hai.

Foreign mai to aaloo ke parathe and gobi ke parathe and aaloo tikki nashne mai to kya lunch dineer mai bhi nahi hota because of working life😆as you said toast, sprouts, daliya ,cornflakes se he kam chalana padta hai breakfast mai.

Inn logo ki food habits and life style ke wajah se they need cook and husband/men toh inke ghar ke raja maharaja jaise hai. sab ke sab nashte mai parathe and aaloo tikkis khate hai but ek chai bhi khud se nahi bana sakte or na he grocery la sakte hai 🤢

Seriously yaar mai jab bhi India jane ki sochti hu to sab se pehle Mummy aur bahen ke samne shart rakhti hu ke 2 time thus thus ke full meal and subah subah heavy breakfast ke liye force nahi karoge to hi aungi otherwise India aneka idea drop karungi 🤣🤣

In west people generally use dishwashers vaccum Cleaners etc

I saw a show on Netflix where they used to tell ways for working mothers to reduce their cooking time by making stocks of pasta etc and storing in fridge

They do hassle free cooking so utensils are also less cleaning is done not daily and children are responsible for there own mess

This like someone else mentioned, is a generalisation based on a TV program. Yes in the West we have dishwashers, vacuum cleaners etc but they do not run themselves. Nothing does.

Every household has there own way of doing things but I know these days freshly cooked food is a big thing and yes batch cooking is big too but people still cook and it’s not just pasta. People batch cook basics but then make up rest of the meal with freshly cooked food.

When I have cooked just for one person, especially when cooking Indian food, believe me it takes same amount of utensils sometimes! I used to say this to my mum or aunties and they agreed, it makes little difference when cooking for one or many!

Again for some households, cleaning is frequent during the week, especially if you have large families or young children as things can get messy often. Not all children are trained to take responsibility. Many are spoilt or told to only focus on their studies.

Here in the west majority of couples both work and manage their household together either by sharing tasks or having dedicated tasks however we too have typical set up as where where if families are large, maybe some don’t take on responsibilities and it’s down to just a few.

This topic interested me as having been to India a few times, I too wondered why here many don’t keep cleaners/cooks but there it’s more common. If people do hire here they are mostly hired through friends/family recommendations but I’m sure some will use agency based.

Usually we have one out of idli or dosa

Idli( about 3 varieties) dosa( I know about 15 varieties) for breakfast with tea. Breakfast is usually heavy. I make batter twice a week

Lunch is usually rice with sambar/Dal/rasam with one subji and curd. Before be lockdown when we go to work some type of pulav or pasta or veg chapti roll

Snack is spourts, sandwich and dry snacks

Dinner is usually similar to lunch but with chapati for who does not want to eat rice at night.

Weekend usually specials like burger, pizza, Chole bature, noodles , fried rice or whatever.

Once in two Sundays we order snacks like chats and dhokla

Eating out is usually on occasions and yes food is made fresh almost every day
