So watching the show yesterday i was thinking one thing.......where was Punjab when it came to Arshpreet.

Every single episode we hear how punjab has supported Ishmeet due to which he is in the final two etc etc. But Arshpreet, who i consider to be a better singer than ishmeet, and who is also from Punjab did not get the much deserved support from Punjab.

i wonder if this has something to do with the fact that she was female? 😕

It is a difficult thing to know what works ; I would just call it destiny & rest of things are probable speculations.

Its a sure thing that no female singer will ever win any music competition on Indian TV...especially where public votes are concerned.
Its a shame that wonderful singers like Priyani and Abhilasha got voted out....but its the same everywhere...whether Indian Idol of Saregamapa...

Female contestants shd stop going to these contests and go for other music competitions where judges decide, not the stupic public....

Misogyny is so widespread in India, they will never vote for any female.... 😡
Thats why the Punjab ppl will vote for Ishmeet but not Harshpreet...
Its disgusting...

Unlike U.S. where most of the years, American Idol winners are girls..... 👏

i agree 100% ... its very easy to speculate on these mattters

suppose ishmeet was not there, wud arshpreet then have recd. as much support as ishmeet??? we will never know, right!

girls definitely have a bad track record as far as these shows are concerned ... but sanchita still won li'l champs last yr ... a girl, parul mishra, won the ARR talent show in Delhi ... so all's not lost for the girls ... yet 😊

I heard somewhere that arshpreet said that people stoped voting for her from punjab beacuse she cut her hair. In the religion sikhism your not suppose to cut ur hair.......I feel that this is a wrong reason to stop voting for her.

No, I don't beleive the hair thing. It may have had some effect but not that much. India does not support the girls. No ends ands or buts. The public does not vote for girls. We give great lip service to supporting our girls but there is no action to back it up. The kids maybe able to get some support but not the grown ups.

Also, if there was a separate program for girls no one will endorse it. Amul will not pay and the TRPs will go down the drain.

It's so sad. I hug my little girl everyday and hope to God that I can give her better environment to grow up in. I am so blessed to have a daughter. Yet I know people who cried when their daughter was born. How pathetic are they?

I don't think it was her hair...b/c a lot of girls cut their hair in punjab.....I think she also distanced herself from the punjabi culture.....like she never spoke punjabi...i think (I could be wrong 😳 )...and i remember a episode in which she said "JAI mata DI"...which is not wrong....but then if your not hindu (although after that episode, i thought she was hindu with a sikh name}.

She was a bit of a "wanna be"...although nothing wrong with being a hindu...its more like why pretend to be something your not and don't change yourself just to get more votes. You should be true to yourself, and be comfortable with who you are and where you come from, right? I liked her voice...but I guess people want the "real deal" 😕

I think with Ishmeet it was more of a Sardar thing, not a Punjabi thing.. 😳 Cuz usually Punjab isn't known for going crazy voting for Punjabi contestants..this has been proven is soo many TV shows! in this case I think it was 'bhaapey' (non-Jatt Sikhs..don't know what the proper term is for them?) who were voting like crazy for Ishmeet, since he is one 😳
