This week, in Voice of India, Toshi got eliminated which shocked everyone on the sets. However Abhijeet, one of the judges, assured him that he will adopt him and help him in every single way.

Says Abhijeet, "His brother Sharib was a participant on Sa Re Ga Ma Pa and an established singer. However, Toshi had to sing at places where he is not supposed to sing and that is why I have told him that you will not go back to that same situation. The bad thing about reality shows is that when contestants get eliminated they are promised so many things but it is never fulfilled."
He cited the example of Fame Gurukul winner Ruprekha who has to undergo counselling sessions now due to the lack of work. "I had been to Kolkata recently and came to know about her. Her condition is really bad," adds Abhijeet.

The singer says they will discuss options to get Toshi back on the show. "We are looking at a wild card entry option for him. Hopefully something good happens. He has great calibre and if he does not come back then I may think of walking out of the show never to come back."

With Toshi's exit there are eight contestants left in Voice of India.

there is obviously some mystery to why the network allowed yesterday's elimination. true to all competitions, a wild card round is always present.Maybe Abhijit da and the rest of the panel will pressure Gajji to inflict this clause.

You know what I like about Abhijeet? He has a big heart. It's good to see him take an active interest in someone's future.
Thanks for the article!

Oh dear Ruprekha took counseling due to lack of work and her condition is poor now? Thats very unfortunate and sad. As viewers, we don't even know what these contestants go through during and after the show. Its a real struggle once the show ends, regardless of who wins.

I think they'll have a wild card to bring Toshi back. Even though Arshpreet is a very good singer, her elimination did not generate the same frustration and anger that Toshi's has.

I am very sad to hear about Ruprekha.. She was such a promising talent.. And to have her undergo counselling sessions.. Damn! Just goes out to tell ya that even the winners of a famous musical show are not guranteed success and they still need luck on their side to establish themselves in the music industry..

As for Toshi, thanxx a bunch for sharing the news. I have never been sure about Abhijeet due to his on and off tantrums but recently, he's showing a very generous heart.. Especially towards Toshi. I hope he's successful in keeping the promises that he's making right now.

Cheers,
Sana~

Yes, its sad about Rooprekha... But I think we expect a little too much from the reality shows these days... We talk of the old srgmp and its format, but then at that time I dont think contestants came there with the aim of being playback singers by winning the show... It was more of a contest, a hobby that most persued there... Now the contestants come with the expectation of being singers by winning such competitions... And after so many shows and seasons, it is evident that they dont serve that purpose... So the contestants should not come there with such hopes and participate for fun and joy more than anything else... Its like, the more expectations you have, the more you will be disappointed...

That is a good point. Its all about fame now. But the judges on the show give the contestants such hope with the excessive praise, offers and hype. Then there's the media coverage and starry guest judges. I don't blame them for increasing their expectations.
