MDs vs Singers: Who is doing a better job

There's been a lot of controversy on whether singers can judge or mentor aspiring singers in shows such as ASVOI. After a few weeks of the "gurukul" concept, which team do you feel is doing a better job at mentoring their students? Prithvi (singers) or Agni (music directors)? Which gurukul singers are improving the most? How about the song selection? Comments on all performances?

They say in cricket that a captain is only as good as his team... I think the same applies here... Agni has a stronger team composition, and probably that makes their mentors look better... Someone like Toshi for example, as shown much improvement this week... The others too are doing well... Now how much that can be contributed to their mentors, I am not sure... Probably it would have some part to play... Having said that, I feel Abhijeet is not at all a good mentor... Alka is a contrast... But have a look at Abhilasha - I am sure she is not being guided properly... If there is anyone, it is Priyani who has been flourisihng in their guidance... She probably is the strongest contestant at the moment...

I would say, Agni are better mentors on the whole... They have a good team, but are utilising it well unlike Prithvi who have some immense talent but is going waste without proper song selection, confidence and guidance...

I think Prithvi is doing better as mentors. Their singers are improving and showing versatility. In the long run, they will be better singers.

As coaches of a winning team, maybe Agni, but in the way of good coaching classes that have figured out a formula that usually delivers success and so they are pushing the formula rather than their proteges. This is not learning but cracking the system.

Yes, on an individual level they are the best... I like them both as judges...

I personally think Prithvi team is doing better as mentors.... They are challenging their contestants and hence helping them improve... Priyani has been the most benefitted... Irfaan has also been doing well.... Abhilasha - am sure is going to improve... I cant think of one from Agni team to come and stand by her / anyone else to encourage... Way to go Alka.... You are certainly the best judge by all means.....

Agni has been playing very very safe with their contestants... given which its unlikely that they will improve much.. Agree that they have a stronger team.. but would that end up in a Rabbit Tortoise story?? I wonder.....

i think it is Prithvi ... they are pushing their contestants to try different things and trying to make them versatile ... it is the contestants from Prithvi who are standing out ... be it priyani, irfan or ishmeet ... abhilasha will improve ... dont really know how much is abhijeet's contribution in all this ... but am sure alka is doing enuff ...

as for agni well they strtd as a strong team and they remain strong ... and the singers hv performed as expected ... nothing xtraordinary for which adesh and lalit can take credit ... as a negative i feel they keep giving the same kind of songs (provided the mentors are indeed choosing the songs) to their singers which hs resulted in arshpreet going out ... i'm afraid mirande will soon follow suit ...

I think prithvi has better mentors. prithvi has slowly but steadily improved and shown as the versitality in the performances. I personally think Alka is doing a fab job coaching the singers. Agni team on the contrary has only played safe by trying the same genre of songs. personally I am bored of Sumitra and Toshi. They should try different types of songs to exhibit their talent or I m afraid they may have to exit SVOI.

Agni members are very closed minded about marking the prithvi participants. They rank their participants very high and prithvi singers are ranked real low. At this rate an undeserving particpant may become VOI.
