I dont understand these musical judges!

You know, recently when such musical talent hunts are at its peak...I really admire the gutsy performers and singers that come into the show. Some are good and some are not so good! But, one thing that always bugs me is that I have never been able to fully understand these judges! I mean what do they want from a singer?! I feel like sometimes their comments have no ground...and somtimes they say things for one person and dont for the other person...even if the two are lacking the same thing!

And the most brilliant of them all, is that when some singers haven't given a good performance at all, these judges root for them (No offense, I tend to see alot of that in Sumitra's case) and when a singer (In my opinion) has given a good performance..they completely bash him/her? Of course, this doesn't happen all the time, but I know, like me, you have all experienced the same feeling from time to time when you watch certain performances, right?!

I've been listening and singing bollywood music since childhood to deeply feel when a song/performance has touched me or not...so why do these judges favor or disfavor some of the contestants? Do you think they are paid to act this way...personal preference...or, is this and several other shows like this is, truly in a hunt of a great singer??

LOL...wow..this is certainly new?! Sir/Madam whomever you may be, Jealous, and actually writing in jealousy is something very far away from my world. This is true of be it Indian or American ppl!

Sumitra is much older than me...She has a degree in computer science, she is an intelligent, smart, good looking woman!! I truely respect her, admire her and all the great looking ppl that are on the show...BUT...you are missing a great point my dear...this show is about SINGING!! I am rating their singing...n dont really care about how they look, n what they wear!! Its all about music/sangeet talent and voice quality that the world wants to see!

What is this American/Indian women, Iyer girl and jealousy thing being brought into the discussion?There is no personal attack against Sumitra or Priyani in the post... Just as many would like a contestant, there are others who would feel otherwise... The member expressed her view and there is nothing wrong with it... Please dont make such remarks against any member...

Yes, I do get your point and I was about to post my views just when I read all those remarks and the topic going off the point... So here is my view - I do agree that the judges have not been consistent at all... Many a time we see such huge praise for a performance when you are left wondering what was so great about it... The reason I feel for it is not that they are paid for it - but they too have personal favorites like us... And probably they get carried away at times forgetting that they are there as judges and are expected to give a fair comment... But really how does it matter - the decision now is with public voting - judges marks are being rendered useless...

Thanks for your fair input smallwonder...It reallie does makes sense...but wot judges are reallie trying to do now is saying good things about almost everyone to influence ppl's opinions just a little bit...for the masses that cannot judge a performance fairly...and also, judges are realizing that ppl are not voting as much as they should be!! Obv..me living in America cannot vote through SMS..and I really hope the voting I do online is counted! I try to be fair to whoever gave the best performance for the day! I dont have a particular person I vote for each time...just depends on the performance itself!

ya, i think their remarks can affect a section of the votes...😊 As for voting, I have not voted for anyone till now... May do so later on in the competition, but only if someone contestant really has that impact that you wish to spend your money...😛 No doubt there have been some great performances and I do like many of the contestants, but really - we have been watching reality shows for so long now over the years that I dont feel that excitement to go on an vote for them every week...
