A moment with you...
He could feel the softest of melodies emerging as the bow glided over the golden strings of a violin. Over intricately carved pillars and ceiling, amber lanterns hung low casting their rays ominously to create a very ambient atmosphere. Huge french windows adorned the simple walls spray painted to a shade of intense bisque.
Through the glass, he could see the eiffel tower carve its way up in to the night sky, decked up in millions of lights.
Everything was as Vikram would have wished for. Simple yet elegant.
Just like her.
He shook his head. This restaurant felt too fancy, maybe and - how hard he tried to refrain those thoughts from invading his excited mind - romantic. Or probably he wasn't accustomed to having such elaborate dinners. He was sitting in one of the finest restaurants serving the best flavors of French cuisine.
His eyes perceived Shobha who was gracefully draped in a faint pink shaded saree embellished with golden silk threads. Her smile exuded such immense happiness, he felt complete.
It was all too sudden. He always wanted to come to the city of Love, but never in His dreams he thought it to be with Shobha.
It's such a wonderful place, Vikram. Oh Jasmines! " Shobha smiled fondling the flowers and continued. "I am so happy...!"
He nodded. He had to admit, he wasn't much interested in the decors. He preferred observing the most different and beautiful woman in his life. Jasmines were specially for her.
" They all look so lovely! " she said.
Young couples danced artistically as the instruments complimented each other with harmonious tunes.
" Yes. Of course. " He took a sip of wine and got up. Adjusting his cimmerian coat, he held out his hand. "Will you dance with me? "
"Are you serious? I can't dance..."
He smiled slyly "Neither can I."
"But before that, I want you to know something... " he hesitated.
Her heart skipped a beat as she took his hand.
With delicacy, he picked a jasmine flower from the vase resting on the table and held out to her. She raised her eyebrows as sweet fragrance of fresh jasmines captivated their nervous hearts.
" You are promoted. " He blurted out.
"Huh? "
" CEO, Pinnacle Industries. "
With his words coming as a surprise, a big smile appeared on her face as his words took time to comprehend themselves. She took the jasmine, her fingers lightly brushing against his and burst out laughing.
" Oh Vikram, tell me frankly, You were looking for an opportunity to say those three words, weren't you? I almost ruined your moment..!"
He had to agree. He felt different today regardless of the fact.
"Alright, alright. You look beautiful with your laugh lines more prominent." he laughed, whole heartedly, accepting his defeat at being unable to mask his nervousness.
"Same applies to you!" Shobha chided as they walked over to the dance floor.
Her eyes emanated innocence and immense joy that could calm any anxious heart. Like a fierce storm, she had invaded his calm and lonely life, shaking his foundations to the core. She was the only person who believed he could change, who believed he could love again.
He held her close, his arms resting on her waist as she wound her hands around his neck.
"Vikram. I am fine being your secretary. Really. No wait. I'll prefer being a homemaker first. "
They swayed along the soft music.
"Oh, Come on Shobha! With you being promoted, some responsibilities will be off my shoulders. I can spend more time with family. "
"Family? What about me? And kids?!"
"Jiyu-Reehu prefer Naani's company more, " said Vikram, a playful smile on his lips. "They'll be munching on French food right now and sightseeing. And about you.. Well..." He trailed off.
She thought for a second, "Yeah. Right."
" But I haven't accepted this position yet. You have to convince me to. " she grinned.
"Hah. We'll talk about it later. Let us enjoy our moment, Mrs. Ahuja. "
Shobha smiled, resting her head on his shoulder as they danced over a wonderful evening in Paris.
