Gaurav Chopra has been unceremoniously dumped from Star One's Betiyaan Apni Ya Paraya Dhan. He was to play the role of Vedant, an important character in the show.

When contacted, Gaurav confirmed the news. He says, "This role was offered to me about a month ago. I was approached at least five times and was told that both the production house (Sunjoy Waddhwa's Sphere Origins) and the channel were keen on having me in the serial. I was even planning to figure out my dates between Nach Baliye 2 and Aisa Des Hai Mera. I was to report on the sets on Friday morning. But on Thursday night I got a call from the production house informing that I am no more in the show."

Apparently it was actor Manish Goyal, who was responsible for getting Gaurav out of the show. Says a source on the sets, "Manish has been out of work since he quit Bhabhi in May. He was desperately looking for a good role. Gaurav was supposed to do the role but Manish somehow managed to bag the role."

Says Gaurav, "I have been told about the incident, but I am not sure. I don't think Manish tried to get me out of the show, he just got himself in."

Manish, on the other hand seemed shocked at the news. He said, "I have no clue as who is spreading these rumours. It was the channel who was keen on having me in the serial. As for the role, I didn't want to do the role in the first place because I did not find it interesting. I was first approached on September 29 and thereafter, I refused them at least thrice. But I was pushed to do the role. So I met the writer of the show Rekha Modi, who convinced me to do the role. I didn't have to lobby for the role; I believe there were other big names who were lobbying for it."

Waddhwa says, "Several people were auditioned for this role including Gaurav Chopra. We had spoken to Gaurav but Manish was finalised."

omg manish aint dat cute at allllllll how can dey dump guarav hez soooooo freakin cuteeeeeee......how can they dump such a handsome hunk lyke him....uhhh

It is Star One's loss that they didn't keep him. Gaurav is the best. 👏

what an outright lie. if manish was not interested in the role in the first place why did he agree to do it? 😕 these days directors dont approach actors again and again and again for a role if they do not seem interested and after they have signed up someone already for a role. obviously mr manish wanted the role and stole it from gaurav.

oh well its the director's loss. judging by the effect gaurav had just on ADHM...i'd say he was just plain dumb in picking manish over GC. 😳

even after all this he is not blaming anyone....he is not only a handsome hunk..a superb actor but a great human being as well....

Thanks once again Lilly. You are right Jojo, even after all this Gaurav has only kind words for his colleagues. If you would have seen yesterday's Nach Baliye, you would see that when he and Narayani inspite of being voted out by the other contestants, they only spoke good about them and said they were thankful to Nach Baliye that they got such good friends, (even if those friends indulged in back-stabbing 😡). Gaurav you are the best👏.

yes vidya..they gracefully accepted their ouster.👏.....no drama bazi like sweta /raja🤢....that's why we all like you sooooo much....i want him to dethrone Shahrukh 😃...

Hats off to the couple to accept such a shocking exit. There exit at such an early stage proves that they are better contenders & other couple are insecured with their presence in the show.....i wish n pray they return in the wild card 😉
