CHAPTER - 4

[ Mafatlal Villa , USA ]

Natasha was sleeping and was having deep slumber in her sleep,while Ananya was half lying on her bed.Sleep was miles away from her eyes and Ranjit and Manju's words were continuously roaming inside her head and was continuously chewing each and every nerves of her brain.At first life had taken away her mother and then the most beautiful thing which happened in her life was Akash,the only one whom she could claim as solely her,but life took that away too.The only thing that is now left in her life was Paakhi.Whenever she remembered about that moment,when she first came to know about her pregnancy,it made her happy as well as horrified.Happy because,though she lost her love,but she had the motto to live,her symbol of love and was horrified when her father and aunt asked her to abort the child.It was the black day of her life,a day which literally marked the end of her life,if Rohit and Natasha would have not supported her.Both of them stood like pillars in her life,standing in each and every decision of her life,each and every ups and down of her life.Ananya looked at sleeping Natasha and smiled at her.She rubbed her head lovingly and kissed on her head.She silently opened the drawyer of the table,beside her bed and took out Akash's photo.She rubbed that photo and said,"Tumhe aaj choone ka bara mann kar raha hai Akash.Aaj sabke hote huye bhi tumhaari kami bohot khal rahi hai.Purey 9 saal ho gaye tumse dur ho gaye.Par aaj bhi tum mujhse jitney dur ho,utne hi paas ho.Kabhi kabhi,main apne aap ko bohot helpless mehsus karti hu Akash,tab meri aakhe sirf tumhe dhundhti hai."A drop of tear fall down from her eyes and she immediately covered her mouth with the blanket,so that her pain remains within her and no one could know about it.She cried her heart out silently,her pain was shaking her from inside,but still she didn't let anyone know.Her mind cried out,"I need you Akash...I need you...Please come back to me Akash...Please come back..."She sobbed and sobbed and while doing that she fall asleep.

[ SM , MUMBAI ]

Akash returned from office quiet late.Namrata was waiting for him in the hall since evening.On seeing him,Namrata quickly got up from the sofa and went towards him and asked,"Arey Akash,beta itna late kaise ho gaya aaj?Office mein bohot zyaada kaam tha kya?"Akash replied,"Ha daadi bas kuch aisa hi samajh lijiye."Namrata asked,"Kya aaj tune Akshay par haath uthaaya?"Akash gave her a strange look finally accompanied it with a sarcastic smile and asked,"Oh to Mrs Saluja ne is baat ka issue bana Mahima hai ghar mein?Akshay aakar chillaya hoga nehi?"Namrata replied,"Tu to jaanta hai na Akash,ye kaise log hai?Inko drama karna kitna pasand hai aur sabse zyaada disappointing to ye hai ke tera baap bhi unke baato mein aa jaata hai."Akash chuckled and replied,"What more can you expect from him daadi?I got used to it.Jab ma chali gayi thi,literally dad bhi unke saath hi chale gaye the,vo to aap hai,varna main ye ghar kabka chor deta."Namrata said,"Aisi baate nehi karte beta,vo chahe jaisa bhi ho,tera baap hai aur Yash tujhse sach mein bohot pyar karta hai.Chal tu fresh ho ja,main khaana garam karti hu."Akash smiled and left from there.

After half an hour,when Akash returned to the hall,he found Namrata was waiting for him in the dining table.He sat on the chair and said,"Uff!Kitni zoro se bhuk lagi hai daadi."He was about to give the first bite,when his father called from the back,"Akash!"He closed his eyes out of disgust and murmered to Namrata,"Lijiye ab shuru hogi mahabharat."He reluctantly got up from his chair and turned to look upto him and said,"Yes dad!!"Yash walked towards him and stood face to face to him and asked,"Aaj tumne Akshay pe haath uthaaya?"Akash again could not control his laugh.Yash looked disturbed and asked,"Isme hasne waali kya baat hai?Maine ek simple sa sawaal pucha hai."Akash replied,"Ji dad,maine usey thappar maara."Yash asked,"Kya main jaan sakta hu kyu?"Akash made a shocked expression and said,"Kamaal hai dad,aapka beta apke saamne aakar ro kar bola ke maine usey maara hai,par usey aapne ye nehi pucha ke maine aisa kyu kiya?Strange!"From behind Yash,Naina was peeping.On hearing the answer,she came forward and asked,"Tumne ek maamuli se staff ke vajah se mere bete pe haath uthaaya Akash?"Akash was more surprised at Naina's question.He said to Yash,"See dad,Mrs Saluja tak ko pata hai ke maine Akshay ko kyu maara aur aapko hi nehi pata?"He then peeped towards Naina and asked,"Mujhe nehi pata tha,you are so concerned about me Mrs Saluja,ke ab aap mere khilaaf baate bhi chupaane lagi hai?Mujhe to laga tha,is baat ka aap mere khilaaf issue banaayengi.By the way thank you so much for your concern Mrs Saluja.Aapne inko ye nehi bataaya ke aapke ladle ne Rahul ko maara aur uska collar pakarke uska sabke saamne insult bhi kiya?"Yash replied,"Mujhe sab pata hai Akash.I know everything.Main manta hu Akshay was wrong but tumhe is tarah se apne bhai ko sabke saamne thappar nehi maarna chahiye tha.Rahul sirf tumhaara dost hai,isi vajah se vo hamaare saath kaam kar raha hai,par isse ye baat jhut nehi ho jaayegi ke vo bas ek employee hai aur Akshay mera beta hai."Akash didn't like the statement made by him for Rahul.He said,"Rahul ko ye job uske qualification ke basis pe mila hai dad aur vo ye job deserve karta hai.Rahul hamaare company ka officer hai aur Akshay bas kaam seekh raha hai.Qualification aur experience ke maamlo mein Akshay Rahul ke pero ki dhool ke baraabar bhi nehi hai,vo to aapke donations ke vajah se college waalo ne usko nikaala nehi tha.Dad office mein koi kisika rishtedaar nehi hai,vaha har aadmi ko uske designation ke mutaabik hi treatment milega.Akshay ne jo kiya,maine usey bas uski sazaa di hai aur vo ye sazaa deserve karta hai."Yash was angry at his son's attitude and he asked,"To tum mujhe bol sakte the,is tarah se sabke saamne haath uthaane ki tumhaari himmat kaise hui?"Akash replied,"Usko bhi to pata chale ke sabke saamne jab insult hoti hai to kaisa lagta hai aur office mein boss main hu dad aur waha meri marzi chalti hai.Meri nazar mein mere liye office ke andar koi khaas nehi hota aur agar aapko itni hi taklif ho rahi hai na dad,to usey apne goad mein bitha kar rakkhiye."Naina was furious with rage at Akash's reply.She raised her finger and said,"Ye mat bhulo is property ka vo teesra waaris hai.Tumhaara naukar nehi hai vo."Akash's eyes flashed with anger at Naina's words.He replied,"Aur business ki power of attorney mere naam par hai,isliye,office mein decision lene ka haq sirf mujhe hai,aapke husband tak ko koi decision lene ki authority nehi hai aur rahi baat property ki,to mujhe isme koi dilchaspi nehi hai."He looked at Yash and said,"Agar aapko lagta hai ke maine galti ki hai to main abhi aur isiwaqt apne hisse ki saari property aur power of attorney Mrs Saluja ke naam kar dunga aur apni daadi ko lekar yaha se hamesha hamesha ke liye chala jaaunga,par agar aap aisa nehi chahte hai to behtar yehi hoga ke aap apni wife se kahiye ye hissedaari ka dhaus mujhe na dikhaaye,kyuki bina SALUJA surname ke inki koi value na bhi ho sakti hai,par meri hai.Inke paas khone ke liye bohot kuch hai,par mere paas kuch bhi nehi."Yash raised his hand to slap Akash,but Namrata stopped him and asked,"Jawaan bete par haath uthaate huye tujhe sharam nehi aati Yash?"Akash was not at all surprised by his father's behaviour because he expected nothing more from his puppet father.He said,"Mujhe aapse isse zyaada aur koi ummeed nehi thi dad.Sach kahu dad mujhe aapse sach mein kuch nehi chahiye,kyuki aapke paas dene laayak kuch bhi nehi hai.Not even your love and support.Good night dad!"He turned to Namrata and said,"Daadi,servants se kahiye,mera dinner mere kamre mein dene ko.Inke vajah se main apna dinner kharaab nehi karna chahta as you know Iam not that ideal son in fact."He gave a sarcastic smile to his father and left from there.Namrata ordered one of the servant to serve dinner to Akash in his room.When the servant left.Namrat giggled and said,"Tujhe pata hai Yash,teri harkate dekh kar main bhagwaan se kehti thi,ke mujhe tere jaisa beta kaise mil gaya,par aaj mujhe realize hua ke agar tu na hota,to mujhe aisa honhaar pota nehi milta.He is a real gem.Tere thore bohot punyo ka nateeja hai Akash."She said to Naina,"Apne kaam se kaam rakkho Naina,uske maamle mein taang mat araao.Usse aur uski zindagi dono se dur rahoge to dono khush rahoge.Did you get that?Jaao jaa kar so jaao.Good night!"Namrata too walked towards her bedroom,leaving them in disgust.

Akash used to maintain a diary of his regular activities,what he does the whole day and night and if there is something special just like tonight's incident,it was also written in that diary.The diary was his best friend,as what he could not say even to Namrata,he used to tell it to the diary.His pains,his happiness,his every big and small moment of the life,he used to share it with the diary.He searched for his older diaries,but he could never find them.He opened his diary and wrote down his today's incidents.While looking at it,he gave a deep sigh and said to himself,"Hamesha har roz apne har din ko in panno mein samet kar rakhta tha,par aaj smetne ke liye yaadein hi nehi hai mere paas.9 saal beet gaye us haadse ko aur tabse mujhe kuch bhi yaad nehi hai,ke mera kal kaisa tha,kaun kaun log the mere saath,har roz vohi sapna,sapne mein vohi larki.Aisa lagta hai jaise ke vo mujhe kuch bataana chahti ho.Kuch hai jisse mera bohot gehra rishta hai.Kuch mera bohot khaas mujhse dur hai."The whole loneliness inside him was stabbing him everyday ever since his mother left,though Namrata was there,though he was literally crowded by a number of people but still he was alone,all alone.He still could feel someones' presence in his room,but could not recognise who it was.Akash lied down on the bed after completing writting in the diary.

[ MAFATLAL GROUPS OF AVIATIONS ]

MGA are run by two people,Rohit Mafatlal,the Chairman and Ananya Akash Saluja,the MD.They are the two pillars of the company.Both of them were having an important meeting,from which Ananya moved out in the mid way,citing ill health as the reason.After the wrap up of the meeting,Rohit directly came to Ananya's cabin and asked,"When did you sleep last night?"Ananya was startled to hear his voice,since she was so lost in her own world that she didn't feel his presence.Ananya looked at him with wide eyes and tried to remember the question.She stammered,"Wh-wh-what??"Rohit repeated,"Kal raat kitne baje soyi thi tu?Soyi bhi thi ya nehi?"Ananya at first tried to give an answer but realised that it was waste of time,because in this whole world,Rohit was the one,with whom she could never lie and vice versa.She asked,"You know the answer,so whats the need of asking?"Rohit said,"Nehi,bina puche aajkal tu mujhe kuch bataati hi kaha hai Annie?Maine tujhe kitni baar samjhaaya hai ke bauji aur bui ki baato ko dil se mat lagaana,to phir kyu?""Whats cooking between you 2,that you didn't even welcome me?"Rohit and Ananya were suddenly horrified to hear that unfamiliar voice,behind them.When they turned,they gave a sigh of relief and welcomed her open handed.She was Mahima Singh,Mafatlal's business associate and family friend,Mr Anshul Singh's daughter.Though they were related through business,but Mahima considered Rohit,Ananya and Natasha as members of her family and her very close friends.Ananya went to hug Mahima and said,"What a pleasant surprise!!Mahima tumne bataaya nehi ke tum aane waali ho?"Mahima replied,"Well,I wanted to surprise you all.Pehle Rohit ke cabin mein gayi,vo wahapar nehi tha to yehi par aa gayi.By the way,did I disturb you?"Rohit replied,"Oh no Mahima please come and sit."She took her sit and asked Ananya,"Kya tum apne past ko lekar phir se sad ho gayi thi?"Ananya lowered her head.Mahima said,"Oh c'mon Ananya please don't be sad at the thing which is not in your hands.See I too had a past and you were the one who helped me to come out of it.Now you just can't repeat my mistake.Well I have a great news for you to be happy and that is...Iam getting married."Both Rohit and Ananya were badly shocked and they screamed,"What???""Kya???Tum shaadi kar rahi ho Mahima?"Everyone turned towards the direction of the voice and found Natasha standing there,with her driver behind her holding the lunch boxes.Often she comes there to have lunch with Ananya and Rohit.Mahima went to hug her.She said,"You heard that right.Iam getting married."The driver put the box in the table and left and Natasha asked,"Kab ho rahi hai shaadi?"Mahima made a guilt stricken face and replied,"Next month!"It was their turn again to be surprised and three of them again yelled,"What???"Rohit asked,"Kya tumne tey kar liya hai Mahima ke aaj tum hume shock pe shock deti rahogi?"Mahima replied,"Kuch hi dino pehle sab kuch tey hua hai aur main aaj aa gayi tumhe bataane."Natasha asked,"Par sab kuch itni jaldi kaise ho gaya?"Mahima replied,"Its just...Maine ek baar apni pasand se ek mistake kiya tha,par thank God Iam saved so is baar socha ke dusre tarah se try karu,isliye jab mere liye dad ke India se childhood friend ke bete ka rishta aaya,to maine tey kiya ok lets see.I talked with him over phone,did video chatting and finally I said yes.Uska naam Karan hai Karan Singhaniya.Nice guy!"Mahima gave a dreamy look and on seeing this three of them gave a smile and together said,"Ahem ahem!Mahima come back to earth!"Mahima blushed.Natasha said,"Anu dekha tune,kisike gaal laal ho rahe hai.Chalo achchi baat hai,ke aaj maine raayta banaaya hai ghar par,Mahima ka bhi favourate hai,to bachcho ko bhi aa jaane do,sab ek saath lunch karenge."Mahima exclaimed,"Your that famous raayta???Oh God!I so love that.Thank you so much darling."At that moment,all of them heard a loud shout and cry and Ananya's cabin door suddenly banged and opened and three little naughty angels entered inside.Paakhi and Panchi yelled,"Hi moms!Hi dad!"Adi said,"Hi buas!Hello Rohit uncle!"Ananya replied,"Tum teeno bandaro ki awaaz na mom ko 3 km dur se sunaai deti hai."Paakhi and Panchi together replied,"Thats why you are mom!"Natasha said,"Pata hai tumhaare Mahima aunty ki shaadi hai aur vo hume invite karne aayi hai."Panchi asked,"Wow!Shaadi!Matlab dher saara khaana aur especially ice cream!Mahima aunty aap na apne shaadi mein ice-cream ke saare flavours rakhna,you know na I so love ice-cream."Mahima hugged Panchi and said,"Aww sure my little angel!"Paakhi said,"Aur vo lasagna bhi with lots of coriander and spinach on it.Vohi jo aapke birthday ke time khaaya tha.That was yummy!"Mahima pulled her cheek and said,"Ok baby!"She said,"I must say both of you Ananya and Natasha.You have the most beautiful angels of the world."Natasha then asked all of them to wash their hands and she will serve the lunch.

Aditya had a cut on his finger so Ananya had to feed him.After the lunch,Mahima said,"Natasha and Ananya main tum dono ko invite nehi kar rahi hu balki tum dono ko order de rahi hu ke meri shaadi tak tum dono mere ghar par rahoge and I don't want any argument on that.Meri shaadi ke har occasion mein tum dono 24 ghante mere saath rahoge.Natasha you have to come with me for my shopping and all,as Mom and dad wants that I should look like a traditional Indian bride and Ananya you have to be with me 24X7 as my moral support."Rohit was a little bit worried.He said,"Mahima you know,Natasha is in her 5^th month so..."Mahima shut him up and said,"Oh!Dont worry,main koi zyaada kaam nehi karaaungi tumhaari biwi se aur vaha uska dhyaan rakhne ke liye sab honge aur Ananya bhi to hogi.Just tumhe abse bachche aur office dono ka khayaal rakhna hoga."Rohit had a huge smile on his face and he said,"I don't mind.Do ladies ke chik-chik se to maujhe mukti milegi aur main bachcho ke saath bohot khush rahunga.Tum India apne sasural jaane se pehle inko bhejogi to bhi chalega."Paakhi said,"Ya we'll be damn happy with dad.Hum bohot masti karenge aur aap dono ko bilkul bhi miss nehi karenge khaaskar ke mom ko."Ananya pulled her ear and said,"Ya ya mujhe pata hai,dad ko araam se blackmail kar sakoge,koi daatne waala nehi hoga.Apni manmaani kar sakte ho hai na aur video games,ye,vo in sab ki demands bhi."Natasha said,"Achcha hi hai na Anu,kamsekam bachcho ke vajah se Rohit ke haatho se paise to nikalte hai,varna meri shopping ka naam sunte hi khit-khit karna shuru kar deta hai budhdho ke tarah.Bhagwaan jaane ab ye haalat hai to buraape mein kya hoga."Rohit made a fake angry face and replied,"Main kanjoos hu na?Ok main bachcho ko har roz ghumaane le jaaunga,bahaar khaana khilaaunga,video games blah blah unhe jo bhi chahiye sablaakar dunga and I'll make sure that they are badly spoiled."Paakhi said,"Dad shaadi ke liye hume naye dresses bhi chahiye."Rohit gave a taunting look to Natasha and said,"Ya sure,har occasion ke liye,nayi designer dress aur naye shoes milega.Done deal!Ab apni moms ko bye bolo."Three of the kids raised their hands and bid bye to them and said,"Bye moms and don't come back soon."The three ladies laughed and Ananya said,"Natasha dhyaan rakhna mujhse kahi zyaada tujhe phone aayenge kyuki kisiko bhi koi bhi cheez jagah par jo milti nehi hai."Natasha and Ananya laughed mockingly at them and Natasha and Ananya left for home to do their packing and Mahima too returned home.

All were happy but the one thing they didn't knew was the Rawat and the Mafatlal family's life was going to take a huge turn in that marriage itself which will change everything forever.
