CHAPTER - 2

Paakhi was crying badly by covering her face with the pillow.Rohit pushed the door of her bedroom and came inside.He slowly came towards her and sat on her bed.He said,"Paakhi,beta stop crying!Dekho mom bhi apne room mein ro rahi hai.Why do you always talk ill about your father?"Paakhi yelled,"He is not my father!"Rohit raised both his hands and said,"Ok ok ok fine fine!He is not your father.Par jab bhi tum aisa kehti ho mom hurt hoti hai na?Aisi life mein bohot saari cheese hai jo tumhaare liye achchi nehi hai,par phir bhi mom tumhe vo sab cheeze karne ko allow karti hai,just because you love to do.To tumhe bhi to apni mom ke emotions ka khayaal rakhna chahiye.You are a big girl now!Tumhe pata hai na ke mom unse kitna pyar karti hai,to tum aisa kyu bolti ho har baar?She is right,tum agar unko pasand nehi karti aur unka agar kabhi bhi naam tumhaare saamne aaye then keep quiet chupchap bethi rehna,is tarah se bolti ho to mom ko bhi bura lagta hai na.Now get up otherwise I'll be angry with you."Just then Natasha too entered her bedroom and she said,"Arey meri Paakhi to bina kuch khaaye hi uth gayi.Mom ne kitne pyar se tumhaare liye burger banaya aur tumne khaaya bhi nehi.Thats not fare.Chalo utho!"Natasha removed the pillow from her face and made her get up.She started feeding her and said,"Itna gussa nehi karte hai beta.Thik hai tum unko apna dad nehi maanti par vo to tumse bare hai na aur kisi bare ke baare mein aisa nehi bola karte hai.Bad manners!Mom bohot hurt hui hai."Paakhi was still very disturbed and said,"Aaj tak unhone kabhi mujhe slap nehi kiya,par aaj Akash Saluja ke vajah se kiya.I really hate him aur mom mujhse bhi zyaada unse pyar karti hai,I know it thats why I hate him more."Rohit replied,"Annie tumse zyaada kisise pyar nehi karti hai aur agar aisa hota na to vo India mein hi rehti hamaare saath US nehi aati,tumhe ek better future dene ke liye."Paakhi looked at Rohit and asked,"Dad why aren't you my real dad??Why can't I write Paakhi Mafatlal everywhere?Why I have to write Paakhi Saluja?"Rohit and Natasha exchanged looks with each other.Natasha hugged Paakhi from the side and said,"Kisne kaha tumhe ke Rohit tumhaare dad nehi hai?He was,he is and he will be your dad jaise main tumhaari mom hu vaise Rohit bhi hai,par kuch sach aise hote hai beta jo hum kabhi chahkar bhi jhutla nehi sakte and the truth is Akash is your biological father.Pata hai agar Anu chahti na to kabhi ye sach tumhe nehi bolti,par usne bola taaki tum apne asli dad k bhi accept kar sako aur taaki baad mein tumhe koi shock na lage."Rohit said,"Now go to Annie and apologize!Go!"Paakhi replied,"No nehi jaaungi main.She slapped me!"Natasha said,"Its ok Rohit!I know,isey kaun samjha sakta hai."Rohit nodded his head.

After quite a few hours,a small boy entered Paakhi's room and sat beside her.On seeing him,Paakhi got irritated.She asked,"Why you're here??I know Natasha mom and dad sent you to persuade me.Right?"The boy was about to tell something,but Paakhi again shouted and replied,"Iam warning you Ad,if you dare ask me to say sorry to mom for Akash Saluja,I swear,I'll break you head."The boy asked,"Mera head break karne ke baad tu kiska dimaag khaayegi?Kisse aakar apni saari baate share karegi?Bol?"Paakhi remained quiet.He said,"Iam not asking you to apologize to bua,par tujhe pata hai main abhi dekh kar aaya hu,ke vo teri photo ko hug karke bohot ro rahi hai and thats not fare Paakhi.You know na Ananya bua loves you a lot."Paakhi looked at him with surprise and asked,"Mom meri photo hug karke ro rahi hai?"The boy nodded his head.Paakhi jumped out of her bed and ran to Ananya's bedroom.On reaching there,she found Ananya weeping quietly sitting on her bed.Paakhi felt very sad for her mother and then went to her and said,"Iam sorry mom!I promise I'll never repeat this mistake ever!Please stop crying!"Ananya was still angry on her and she didn't look at her.Paakhi held her ears and said,"Iam sorry mom.Please!"Ananya removed Paakhi's hand from her ears and asked,"Sach mein apne dad ki insult kabhi nehi karogi na?"Paakhi replied,"Kabhi nehi karungi,but promise me that you'll never call him my dad."Ananya was about to scold her again but he got a signal from Rohit and Natasha who were standing outside her bedroom's door,so she kept quiet.Ananya said,"Ok."Paakhi and Ananya hugged and Rohit and Natasha smiled from the doorstep.

This is Mafatlal family.Actually Mafatlal Villa consists of 3 families,Mafatlal,Saluja and Rawat.Rohit Mafatlal is the owner of the house,with his wife Natasha and 6 years old daughter Panchi.After 6 years of their first child,they are expecting their second child.Ananya and Rohit were best childhood buddies and neighbours in their native hometown in Delhi.Ananya and Natasha were twin sisters with Ananya being 5 minutes older and they have an elder brother named Vikas.Ananya's mother died when Ananya and Natasha were infants and then Vikas,Ananya and Natasha's father Mr Ranjit Rawat and their paternal aunt Manju Rawat raised them up.Mafatlal and Rawat family were family friends,but Rohit's parents died in a car accident and from then though Rohit stayed in his home for formality,but from that day,he became the Rawat's responsibility until he becomes old enough to take over his father's aviation business.When Rohit and Ananya grew up,the family planned for their marriage,but they rejected since they acknowledged themselves only as friends.Slowly Rohit and Natasha fall in love and planned to get married.After that Akash came mysteriously into Ananya's life but they were separated for some reasons.Rohit and Natasha married and he transferred his whole business in USA and took the whole family with him and settled down there permanently.In USA,Ananya gave birth to Paakhi and after 2 years,Panchi was born to Natasha.Both the kids were equally loved by everyone.Paakhi acknowledged Natasha as her mother just like Ananya and considered Rohit as her father and Panchi too considered Ananya as her mother.Vikas's family consisted of his wife Vidhi and his 10 years old boy Aditya.Aditya and Paakhi are bestest buddies and always shared everything with each other and also acted as Panchi's guardian in school.Manju and Ranjit,being aware of the actual truth,still were so angry with Akash for destroying their daughter's life that they poisoned Paakhi's mind in such a way,that now she hated Akash the most,but Ananya still generously loved Akash and tried to wash away the hatred from Paakhi's mind but she failed.Vikas,Ananya,Natasha and Rohit were in favour of Akash and the rest were against him,except the kids who didn't know anything.Everyone were living happily with each other.

[ SALUJA MANSION,MUMBAI ]

A man was blabbering in his dreams,a name,a name that haunts him everyday.He woke up from his slept,screaming that name,"Ananya!"He looked here and there in anxiety.He was taking deep breath.An older woman came to him and asked,"Akash beta kya hua?Itni zor se chillaya?"He started stammering,"Daadi..daadi...vo...vo...An...Ananya!"The woman's heart skipped a bit and she asked,"Phir se wahi sapna dekha?"He nodded his head and said,"Daadi kaun hai ye Ananya?Kyu mujhe uska sapna baar baar aata hai?Ek dhundhla sa chehra hai jisey main kabhi thik se dekh nehi paata.Kaun hai vo daadi bataao na?Kuch hua tha kya mere saath accident se pehle?"The woman replied,"Nehi beta kuch nehi hua tere saath tu tension mat le.Just relax!Chal abhi fresh ho ja,dad tera breakfast par intezaar kar rahe hai,office bhi to jaana hai na tujhe.Come on!"Akash nodded his head and the woman left.While he was taking shower,he said to himself,"Chahe koi kitna bhi kehle,but mujhe pura yakeen hai ke meri zindagi ka koi aisa raaz hai,jo sab mujhse chupaate hai.Koi ek aisa hissa hai meri zindagi ka jiske bina main adhoora hu.I have to know about it,at any cost.Peechle 8 saalo se wahi ek sapna mujhe har roz dikhta hai,kisise puchta hu to koi nehi bolta.Kaun hai ye Ananya?Kya rishta hai uska mere saath?Iam sure usse related koi bohot bara raaz hai,mujhe sab janna hi hoga.Kaash aaj meri ma zinda hoti to meri ye taklif zarur samajhti,par vo to..."He had tears in his eyes.

This was the daily routine every morning for Akash Saluja.He was eldest son of the big business tycoon Mr Yash Saluja.His family consisted of his eldest son Akash,who was from his first wife Shivani and she was no more.He again remarried to give Akash a mother.His second wife was Naina,with whom he had two sons,Akshay and Dhruv and a daughter Suhaana.Naina married Yash for his wealth and she had a total control over the whole house alongwith her husband.Her children were just like her,proud,arrogant and mannerless.Yash loved Akash the most among his sons,but he was not a very kind-hearted person.Whenever Yash was there,she tried to be very caring mother to Akash.Akash,though didn't say anyting to Naina everytime,but he didn't like her and never gave the place of his mother and everyday,at least for one time,he had a fight with Naina.Akash was the MD as well as the heir of 50% of the property of the Saluja's.He loved his father,but didn't like some of his ways.The only person,whom he loved with all his heart and can do anything for was her grandmother Namrata Saluja.She too loved her grandson a lot.

In the dining table,Yash was waiting for Akash.He arrived and wished his father and grandmother.Naina asked,"Kya baat hai Akash beta,aaj tum late ho gaye?Tumhaari tabiyat to thik hai?"He replied,"Ji."Naina wanted to serve him food,but he stopped her and said,"Main le lunga Mrs Saluja,you don't have to worry."Yash asked,"To Akash aaj ki meeting ki tayyari tumne kar to li hai na?"He replied,"Yes dad everything is done."Naina said,"Yash main aapse kitne dino se ek baat kehna chahti thi,par aapke paas to waqt hi nehi hai."Yash asked,"Ha bolo?"Naina said,"Abhi hamaara Akash settle ho chuka hai to ab hume Akash ki shaadi karwa deni chahiye."Akash stopped in the way while eating.Naina continued,"Vo Viraj ke dad chahte the ke Suhaana-Viraj ke saath saath agar unki beti ki shaadi Akash se ho jaaye to...I mean Ahaana hamaare Akash ko bohot pasand karti hai to isliye...Aap hi sochiye na ek beti shaadi karke jaayegi aur dusri beti yaha aayegi...""Aap ye kyu nehi kehti hai Mrs Saluja ke ek give and take offer se aap apni beti ka rishta karaana chahti hai."Akash blurted out.Naina said,"Par Akash main tumhaare bhale..."He replied,"Aapko mere bhale ke baare mein sochne ki koi zarurat nehi hai.Main hu aur meri daadi bhi hai."Yash angrily said to Akash,"Stop it Akash!Ye kya tareeka hua,apni ma se baat karne ka?"Akash replied,"Ye aapki biwi hai dad.Meri ma nehi.Meri ma ab is dunia mein nehi hai."Naina brought fake tears into her eyes and said,"Ha sauteli hu na,aisa to kahoge hi,Chahe main jitni bhi koshish karlu,par main kabhi tumhaara dil nehi rakh paayi Akash,hamesha tum isi trah se meri insult karte ho."Akash said,"To please aap aise kaam mat kijiye.Aap unhi cheezo se matlab rakkhiye jisse aapko faayda ho,bematlab ki cheezo par dhyaan mat dijiye aur khaaskar mere maamlo mein bilkul bhi nehi.Mujhe kab kya karna hai ye main decide karunga aap nehi.Dad main office ja raha hu.Bye!"Saying he picked up his laptop bag and left from there.

Yash angrily got up from the table and said to Namrata,"Ma ye sab aapke hi laad pyar ka nateeja hai.Akash ye puri tarah se bhul hi gaya hai ke baro se kaise baat karte hai."He turned to Naina and said,"Jab tumhe pata hai ke Akash tumhe pasand nehi karta to uske maamlo mein kyu parti ho?Stop interfering in his life!"Naina said,"Vo hamaara beta hai Yash!Uske bhale bure ke baare mein sochna kaam hai hamaara.Usey apne life ke decision lene ka haq hai,par agar vo galti kar raha hai to hamaara farz banta hai ke hum usko sudhaare."Namrata replied,"Kitna bhala chahti ho uska Naina,ye sab achche se jaante hai aur Yash,dusri shaadi karne ka faisla tera tha,ye koi zaruri nehi hai ke tera har faisla har koi maan lega.Tu apna faisla kisi par thop nehi sakta."Naina wanted to give a reply back to Namrata but Yash got irritated and yelled,"Bandh karo aap dono!Roz kisi na kisi vajah se is ghar mein laraai hoti hai.Iam fed up all this!Is ghar mein lagta hai kabhi shanti nehi aayegi."Saying he wanted to leave when Namrata laughed sarcastically and replied,"Ghar mein shanti,ghar ki lakshmi se aata hai Yash,jo is ghar mein ab hai nehi.Is ghar se sukh aur shaanti to usi din chali gayi thi,jisdin is ghar ki lakshmi ne apne kadam is ghar ke bahaar rakkhe the."Yash stopped and said,"Ma us baat ko 9 saal beet chuke hai aur maine kaha tha na un baato ko waapas is ghar mein kabhi nehi dohraaya jaayega?Phir??"Namrata said,"Tere maanne na maanne se sach jhut nehi ban jaayega.Main Akash ko kabhi kuch nehi bataaungi,par sach ek din usko zarur pata chalega aur jisdin usko sach pata chala na Yash,jisdin usko ye pata chala ke 9 saal pehle uski life mein kya hua tha,vo is ghar ko chorne mein 9 minute nehi lagaayega aur usdin tujhe apne bete ke saath,apni ma bhi khoni paregi."Yash grinned,"Vo din kabhi nehi aayega!"Namrata replied,"Aayega zarur aayega kyuki kisi bhi insaan ka bura waqt usey kehkar nehi aata aur main chahti hu ke vo din jald hi aaye kyuki mujhse Akash ki ye bechaini aur nehi dekhi jaati."Saying she left from there.
