I am not all that knowledgable about how things work in rural India, but there is one thing that just does not make sense to me. In fact, it defies logic.

Lalli is considered an untouchable, a dasi. Based on everything we've seen on the show, she cannot go to a mandir (fear that she will make it "unpure", "dirty"), has restrictions imposed on her (where she can cook and eat), and is viewed in a bad light by townsfolk, through no fault of her own.

Now, Lalli is wanted to give birth to a waaris??? Lalli the dasi, Lalli the low caste girl. Does this even make sense? To have a waaris from a dasi? In India, doesn't that make the child "unpure"? Why didn't they have Shekhar remarry?

Look I don't get this whole caste thing--in my opinion it is downright wrong to brand people at birth and keep them in their "place", subjugate them all their lives. But thousands of years of practice cannot be broken--it never will be. by the way. All human beings need something to make them feel superior to someone, and allow them to forget that there is someone sitting on top of them too.

What do you all think? I would love to read your responses.

interesting point.. something i've thought of also.. i guess for them it doesn't matter😕 cuz the son'll have thakur's blood.. i don't know 😕 cuz shekhar's a thakur.. and as it is.. woman are not respected.. rich or poor.. (look at the thakurayan.. we've seen how loha singh treats her poorly) so like i said.. maybe it doesn't matter.. the baby will be shekhar's.. and that makes him a 'thakur'..

Actually this issue was tackled on one of the episodes of the show. If I remember correctly Loha was adamant that it did not matter that laali was from a lower caste as only the caste of the father mattered.

Yes they did talk about this in the Show, and he had said that in the Baby, the father's blood will run, and he will get his father's name. So basically Laali won't have much right on the kid.

And they basically are just using Laali as a surrogate mother sort of, as Dabulls said.

these things are quite prevalent in India especially in rural areas....they bought hr by paying an sum of money..so they can use her for anything..no matter what caste or creed she belongs

But if they believe in cast much why to buy a girl from untouchable cast, why not from some upper cast (lower but not untouchable).

PS: No offence to anyone by mentioning untouchability. I personally don't believe in cast system. I feel really disgusted when the shows are showing all these nonsense. Don't know which era they are living.

Maybe because the girls with higher cast than untouchables are from better families who dont have to sell their daughters out of poverty? So perhaps its easier to just buy a low cast girl and get rid of her afterwards 😕

(If I may add..that it is peculiar that in shows like Choti Bahu it's the other way around..Radhika is from unknown cast there and if she and Dev (Raj Purohit) have a child..it will never be able to become a Raj Purohit. But maybe different systems?)

Rules are made by man...and they are broken by man when it's to his advantage.
