A star-spangled end to campaign trail

Mumbai: Television and film actors took the centre stage on the last day of the campaigning for the October 13 assembly polls on Sunday.
Actress Urmila Matondkar took part in a road show organised by Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) contestant Sachin Ahir in Worli while Dia Mirza campaigned for Ahir's colleague Prakash Surve, who is contesting from Magathane assembly constituency.
Surve's campaign troupe also included popular television star Ratan Rajput aka Laali of serial Agle Janam Mohe Bitiya Hi Kijo. Surve campaigned along with the actors in slums and lower middle-class areas in his constituency.
The choice of the stars also had a lot to do with the dominating voting community in the constituency. Bhojpuri actor Ravi Kishen was the star attraction in Congress candidate Rajhans Singh's rally in the North Indian pockets in the region. Reality show Big Boss participant Sambhavna Seth, Gujarati actress Mona Thiba and actor Vishwajeet Pradhan showed up in the Gujarati-dominated Charkop to garner support for Congress candidate Bharat Parekh.
Marathi actor Bharat Jadhav and music reality show winner Vaishali Made participated in a Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) rally for Sewri candidate Bala Nandgaonkar.Made was entertaining the crowd with popular Marathi songs.
Actor Aditya Panscholi was present at the rally for Congress candidate from Borivli, Bhushan Patil.
Several candidates also took out bike and car rallies in their assembly constituencies. Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray's son Aditya participated in bike rallies and road shows organised by party contestants in Magathane and Goregaon among other areas.
BJP city chief Gopal Shetty, who is contesting from Borivli assembly constituency, also took out a bike rally before the campaigning ended at 5pm.
