The Story from Day One Till Now!!!
The story starts with this family who live in a very remote part of of Bihar, India. They are very poor, and live in a small shed house, on the outskirts of the village. They lack basic facilities like power, water, and even food. The father (Nanku) tries hard to earn money so he can feed the family. But because he has a limping leg, no one gives him any work. So sometimes, the family has to feed themselves by either begging or sleep without eating anything. Laali, their oldest daughter tries her best to feed the family as well, she goes around the village and does odd jobs. But Laali is already married, when she was young, to a guy named Ganesiya. But until now she lived with her parents as they were waitng for her to mature before they send Laali to her sasuraal. And now that she has matured the family is worried how they will manage to do her Gauna(farewell/bidaii to her husband's place) since they don't have any money.
Other families in the village have the same state as well. And one of the family is Sanichari's family who is Laali's friend, her family is as poor as her, and it's time for her Gauna to happen as well. But since her parents are very poor they decide to sell Sanichari, to Bali(he deals in giels). Sanichari is taken away by men his men, but Laali doesn't know that she has been sold, she thinks her Gauna has happened.
Worried that Bali might try to buy their daughter as well Nanku and Majri decide to arrange the money somehow to fix Laali's Gauna. After working in the field for the entire day, they manage to get 40 rupees, and Nanku uses this to go to Laali's in-laws to arrange the date for Laali's Bidaii. But Laali's father in-law tells him that if Laali's Bidaai is to take place then Nanku needs to give 10,000 rupees.
Nanku tries to arrange this money be stealing someone's oxes, but he is caught and sent to jail, and in order to get him out they need to give 10,000 rupees. And more problems arises for the family when Munna and Laali fall sick. Majri has no idea what to do, and faced by all these problems she decides to agree to Bali and sell her daughter to him. Bali then frees Nanku from jail and arranges the medicine.
Once Nanku finds out that Majri has agreed to sell Laali, he is heartbroken and they decide to escape from the village at night, taking Laali with them. But they are unsuccessful and are caught by Bali. Nanku pleads to Bali to not let Laali know that she is being sold, and that she should leave the house as if her Gauna(Bidaai) is happening. And finally the person who has bought Laali comes to get her, it's Ranvijay, thakur's son. They also make Laali do the Suddhikaran ceremony, so that she is no longer an untouchable. Laali then leaves from her house as a bride, and her parents are left crying.
Now the thakur family is introduced. But when there is no one to welcome Laali at the thakur household so she is confused. (Remember Laali doesn't know that she has been sold). Laali is taken into a old room by dai. Laali thinks she has come to Ganesiya's house, the guy who she wed when she was young. She has been told by her parents that Ganesiya works at the thakur's household.
Then we see found out that Laali was bought so that she can be given to this businessmen, so the thakurs can please him and in return get a contract from him. But this doesn't work out, and Laali remains in the thakur hosehold. Laali tries to look for Ganesiya, and she ends up thinking that Shekhar, the younger son of the Thakur family is her Ganesiya.
The family has an another problem as weel, their is no heir to the thakur family. Ranvijay has two daughters, and Shekhar has no child. But Loha Singh is determined to get a grandson!

As there is no male heir to the family Shekhar is chosen to give the family a male heir. The Thakur asks Shekhar to deceive Laali by playing along the Ganeshiya act so the Thakur can use Laali to conceive a child. However Shekhar doesn't even touch Laali let alone sleep with her. Laali comes to the realisation that her Ganeshiya is in fact Shekhar. She also learns she has been sold. She doesn't believe this and escapes from the Haveli with Jamuni's help. Even though Laali escapes theThakur asks Bali to re-capture her because he thinks she is carrying the family's waaris. The Thakur is unaware that Shekhar hasn't even touched her. Bali heads to meet Nanku. Laali first returns to her home. She catches the bus but has no money to pay the bus conductor. Laali is almost kicked off the bus when a women shouts that she will pay for Laali's bus journey. This women comes and sits next to Laali. She seems quite interested in Laali. This women introduces herself as Daali, the owner of a brotherl, but she doesn't tell Laali that she owns a brothel. Laali thanks Daali for the bus fair and leaves when the bus stops at her village. Laali is walking towards her home when she over hears Bali talking to Nanku. Bali tells Nanku he must give Laali in if he finds her as Nanku sold her to the Thakur. Laali is heartbroken and decides not to meet her family. However Majri finds Laali passing their home. Laali eventually stays at her home but doesn't talk much to her parents. She talks to her brother and sisters. She realises where all the extra cash in the family has come from. She is happy for her brother and sisters but upset that her parents lied to her. Majri and Nanku can't even give laali eye contact. Before Laali leaves the village both parents ask for forgiveness. Laali explains she has nothing against her parents and leaves because of Bali who is constantly threatening her family.
After leaving her village Laali heads to meet Ganeshiya. She meets Ganeshiya and tells him how long she has been waiting to meet him. Laali is very happy but realises that Ganeshiya is getting married to her sister Rekha. Disappointed Laali sacrifices her love for her sister and says to Ganeshiya she was only joking when she said she had been waiting a long time to meet him. Laali also tells him that she can't live with him because she is someone's mistress. Ganeshiya is disgusted and backs off when Laali tries to get his blessings. Rekha realises this is her Laali didi's Ganeshiya and refuses to marry him.
Laali leaves and is wondering about alone when Bali finds her. Laali manages to escape from Bali and his men . However Laali is captured by Daali. Daali is unconsuous and sleeping on a bed in Daali's brothel. She hears a lot of men talking in the background with music playing. Laali gets up and walks towards a room where she discovers her old friend Sanichari dancing. Daali is also in the room counting money. However before both friends can chat, Daali sends Sanichari to her room and Laali to her room. Sanichari manages to get a chance to talk to Laali and tells her that the brothel is no place for her. Sanichari also adds that she will help Laali esape. Laali is escaping with Sanichari's aid when Bali turns up in the brothel. Laali and Sanichari meet Daali and Bali face to face. Bali tries to convince Laali to return to the Thakur otherwise Shekhar will be killed by theThakur but Laali escapes the brothel. Sanichari stays behind.
Lost and nowhere to go Laali asks herself where to go. She ponders where her destination is. She closes her eyes and thinks of what first comes to her mind, and Shekhar is the first person that comes to her mind. Laali realises that her destination is the Thakur's Haveli and she must accept her faith as Shekhar's mistress.
At the Haveli Shekhar has finally told the Thakur that Laali isn't carrying the waaris of the family. The Thakur is shocked and upset. Shekhar has a gun to his head and is threatening to kill himself. Laali enters the room at that very moment and takes the gun away from Shekhar. Laali tells the Thakur she will be loyal to the Haveli forever. Laali returns to her room. Shekhar is the first one to meet Laali. He accuses her of being a cheap person and wants money, which is why she returned. He tells her that Laali is so cheap that she is willing to be a mistress for money. He is very angry with Laali who is also upset. The Thakurian also comes to meet Laali after Shekhar who explains Shekhar is just angry.
The Thakur is asking the Thakurian what her punishment should be as she hid the truth [that Laali didn't have the family's waaris]. The Thakur decides he won't show his face to the Thakurian as a punishment since the Thakurian doesn't reply. The Thakurian cries and begs that this is the biggest punishment for a wife. She explains it is important for a husband and wife to gel together and any separation is like death.
The Thakur decides he will use this idea to force Shekhar to give him a waaris. When Shekhar is not home the Thakur asks Siddeshwari to pack her clothes and head towards Laali's servant outhouse. He explains that Laali will be the new Dulhann of the house and Siddeshwari will take Laali's place. Then he explains to the Thakurian that you were the one who said that the biggest punishment for a husband-wife is separation. He adds that if Shekhar wants to be with his wife he will hurry up with the job he has been given. Shekhar returns home to find out Siddeshwari has been locked in Laali's outhouse and Laali is in his room. He runs to fetch Siddeshwari and manages to barge into the room pass the security. To his surprise Siddeshwari asks him to just do what the Thakur wants as there is no point going against him. "Who knows what punishment the Thakur will give?" says Siddeshwari.

Shekhar is completely heart broken to have Sideshwari locked up in that kothri, and Ranvijay uses this opportunity to instigate him further against Loha and get's him drunk. While Laali is welcomed as a new dulhan (to give the waaris) into the house officially through a ceremony and she is given many gifts. After performing this ceremony, Loha Singh goes on a yatra. Behind him Shekhar decides to leave the house, and go to Patna with Sideshwari. But for this he need money, so he decides to steal jewelery from the family temple. As him and Sideshwari were escaping the jewelery drops and Laali is near the jewelery. Everyone finds out that the jewelry is stolen and when they spot Laali near the jewelery and they start blaming her. Laali for the sake of Shekhar lies that it was indeed her who stole the jewelery.
While Shekhar and Sideshwari are on their way to Patna, Sidieshwari finds out that Shekhar has nothing with him, and not even enough money for her day to day expenses, she orders Shekhar to drop her back to the haveli as she is much better there, Shekhar as no choice but to go back. Once he returns back, he sees that the villagers and Ranvijay are getting Laali's fingers cut off for stealing the Jewelery. He goes in and saves her, and admits his fault.
Shekhar is back in the haveli now, but he's still too depressed by having to come back home and one night when he's drunk, and Laali is in his room, he accidentally starts coming close to her, thinking it's Sideshwari. Nothing happens between them though! Once he realizes that it's Laali, he has great guilt upon him and he decides to commit suicide by drowning in the pond, but Laali saves him. Laali realizes that in order to get Shekhar back to normal she must get Sideshwari close to him. So on karva Chauth, Laali takes Sideshwari out of the kothri, and tires to bring her closer to Shekhar, but Sideshwari refuses this and tells them to deliver the waaris, and she shows that she doesn't care about Shekhar when she tells Laali to do the pooja for Shekhar in her place. Shekhar is distraught by this, and get's mad at Sideshwari. He takes all her belongings and burns it, and Laali starts to get signals rhrough some superstitious things that it's her who is made for Shekhar, but at the end of the day she still thinks that she is only a dassi.
Loha Singh returns from his yatra, and once back new ideas are brewing in his mind, to achieve his ultimate goal of having a waaris in the family. He decides to give Shekhar a poison which can kill him if he's not given the right medicine within 15 dyas. He uses this to blackmail Laali to consummate with Shekhar and produce a waaris, or else he won't give the medicine. Shekhar is unaware that he has been poisoned, and Laali tries hard to cure Shekhar on her own but she is unsucessful. Eventually Loha gives Shekhar a temporary medicine which can keep him fine for sometime. Laali uses this time period to come close to Shekhar, but Shekhar is very relentless as he remembers his duties as a husband. Laali also tries to help Shekhar mentally, and emotionally by having him stand on his own feet. On one occasion Dada Ji organizes a Kabbadi match with his tractor as a prize, but in the match Ranvijay plays foul and injures Shekhar so Laali plays for him and goes onto winning the match and the tractor. Shekhar and Laali use this tractor cultivate their land, but then are unsuccessful once the rain arrives and washes away all their effort. Ranvijay then convinces Shekhar to sell the land, while Ranvijay will make crores out of this, he will only give Shekhar lakhs, Laali finds out about this.
Shekhar doesn't belive what Laali tells him, but then Laali notices that the seeds in the fields are sprouting, and she is eventually able to stop Shekhar from selling the land. On the other hand, Gangiya whose aspiration is to make her daughter carry the waaris of the family, keeps instigating Sideshwari to somehow stop Laali and Shekhar from coming closer and delivering the waaris. Sideshwari calls her dad over to the haveli...
Another track which went alongside this one was that of Ranvijay and Jamuni. Gangiya want's her daughter to deliver the waaris for the family so that she can become the owner of the haveli. So she tries to bring Ranvijay and her closer, though Jamuni has no idea what her mom is planning. Ranvijay starts to woo her by giving her gifts, and she takes these gifts as appreciation but doesn't know Ranvijay's real motive behind it. Jamuni is a very innocent girl. Slowly Nandini, Ranvijay's wife starts to suspect Ranvijay of some wrongdoing.

Sideshwari's dad warns Loha to give respect to his daughter as Loha's daughter is married to his son as well. He leaves, but Loha starts his games again and asks Laali to stay in Shekhar and Sideshwari's room. Ranvijay is still trying to get the land from Shekhar, he makes many attempts like setting the fire in the fields, making bulls go loose in the fields, but all his attempts fail as Laali always saved the day. Ranvijay then also tries to trap Shekhar in a murder and getting him arrested. But there too Laali proves his innocence and get's him freed.
But Loha is angry by these daily cat mouse games so he plans a bullock contest between Shekhar and Ranvijay, and whoever wins that will also win the land. But here too Ranvijay plays unfairly and misguides Sideshwari into loosening the wheel of Shekhar's bullock cart. During the race, Laali notices that the wheel is loose, so she decides to run after the bullock, giving support to it with a rope. With Laali's help Shekhar wins the race, but due to excessive running Laali falls dead to the ground after the race, everyone thinks she is dead. But Shekahr just can't believe it. He carries her to the temple and pleads in front of god and says he can't live without her, Laaali eventually gains consciousness. And during the chatt puja episode, Shekhar eventually tells Laali that he loves her, and at the same time ignores the puja with Sideshwari. But Laali keeps remembering Kuahslaya's words that her job is only to deliver the waaris, and this love would not be permanent.
During all of this Ranvijay and Gnagiya's evil minds keep working and they to have Laali killed so this waaris issue ends for once and ever. They traps Sideshwari in his plot as well, so that they can put the blame on her, but their efforts go fruitless as Shekhar manages to save Laali on time. Learning that this was all Ranvijay's plot, Shkehar gets super mad and points the gun at him in front of everyone's presence. But Laali and Nandini eventually persuade him to let Ranvijay go.
Shekhar decides to leave the thakur mansion as he doesn't want to stay with Ranvijay and Sideshwari, he takes Laali along. Though before going Laali pleads to Loha to give her the cure for the poison which is inside Shekhar's body, but Loha refuses and tells her that he will only give it once the news arrives that she is pregnant with the waaris.
To keep Laali safe from Ranvijay they escape to Nepal which is nearby. In Nepal Shekhar and Laali come more closer to each other. And there's lot of Romance😳, and Shekhar dicovers that he loves Laali from the heart and won't be able to live without her. Eventualy there, Shekhar decides to marry Laali as he want their relationship to have a name. But when Shekhar asks Laali about the marrige, Laali resists at first but finally gives in seeing how happy Shekhar is about it, but she also puts a condition forward which she doesn't tell about yet, and Shekhar promises her that he will fulfill it whenever she tells him. While Ranvijay too finds them in Nepal, but he makes a plan to act nice in front of them. Kaushalaya (invited by Shekhar) and Ranvijay happily attend their wedding in Nepal. After the wedding Ranvijay throws a party where he makes Laali and Shekhar drink bhangh (intoxicating drink). During the night, when Shekhar and Laali are asleep, Ranvijay removes Shekhar from the bed and goes to sleep with Laali, In the morning when Kaushalaya discovers that ranvijay slept with Laali, she is shocked, and get's annoyed at Laali as well. Laali feels guilty, but she feels something is wrong.
Shekhar has no idea what has happened as he was outside laying unconscious and has no memory of the night. Ranvijay gives him to medication to cure the poison in his body. They all return back to the haveli, and Loha is super happy once a pundit announces that Laali's is preganant, looking at Shekhar's kundli. There are celebrations all over but Laali just can't believe that she slept with Ranvijay, which would mean the baby is his. There Ranvijay keeps pressuring Laali to tell everyone that he slept with Laali, so that he can claim the waaris as his own. Eventually Ranvijay tells the entire family that he slept with Laali, and the waaris is his. All are shocked, but Shekhar still supports Laali. Laali though doesn't trust Ranvijay and starts to look for the truth. She eventually finds out that Ranvijay had not slept with her and that he's lying. She sses a red mark on Shekhar's body, and remembers that the same mark was present on the person who slept with her that night, which was Shekhar.
With the truth in front of Laali, she decides to bring it in front of the entire family. She traps Ranvijay by calling a pundit who tells the family that Laali is pregnant but with a baby girl and not baby boy since the father is Ranvijay. Hearing this Loha get's extremely mad because Ranvijay has ruined his chances for getting a waaris and he is about to kill Ranvijay, but just in time Ranvijay spills the beans and tells everyone that he did not sleep with Laali, and he had just come in the morning to make it look as if he slept with her, so that afterwards he can claim Shekhar's child (which would be a boy as predicted by a pundit ) as his own. Laali is relived, and Kaushalaya accepts Laali back.
Jamuni who had fallen in love with Ranvijay by now feels disgusted and cheated as well. She's heartbroken. And Ranvijay continues to drink more and harm his wife and children, since they are worthless to him. But eventually, Ranvijay and Gangiya start their planning again to separate Shekhar and Laali. They take Sideshwari's support once again, so that she can emotionally blackmail Laali and try to get Shekhar back from her. Their plan starts working as Laali feels that Sideshwari is the true wife of Shekhar, and she is a dassi only. But Shekhar shows no interest in Sideshwari now.

Shekhar wants to move out from the haveli and build his own house for which he needs to transfer his property to Laali's name but Laali's refuses to take it as she thinks only Sideshwari has right on it. And to make matters worse Ranvijay and Co. acuse Laali of stealing their property papers, to which Shekhar gets very mad and he decides to leave the house plus never enter into the haveli again. As they were about to leave, Loha stops them as he finds out that his daughter Ratna, meanign Shekhar's sister is coming over to visit them.
Shekhar is forced to stay back as he loves his sister a lot and also since Laali asks him. Ratna comes with her bhua with hwom she stayed. Therfore, bhua is Loha's sister. The family decides that they won't tell bhua and Ratna about Shekhar's reality and how he married Laali. This is kept as a secret for many days. And Shekhar doesn't enter the haveli as he had vowed Loha he will never step in the haveli again. Loha singh also doesn't let him meet with ratna properly.
Alongside this we learn that Ratna wants to study more but bhua didn't let her, and now Loha has decided to marry her off. He finds a rich guy who is a son of a minister. Shekhar leanrs about this and he vows to help Ratna so that she can study. But when Shekhar decides to take Ratna with him, and away from the haveli, the truth about his relation with Laali comes out. Once ratna learns about Laali's truth she get's really mad at her which in return makes Shekhar angry at Ratna.
Laali asks Shekhar to let go of his grudge and forgive Ratna. And their bhua makes a new plan to get Shekhar back into the haveli, she mixes some medicine into Ratna's drink which makes her sick. Ratna now vows not to take the medicine until Shekhar comes back into the haveli, at last Shekhar is forced to return back but he is afraid that now that he has returned back into the haveli, the people here will start trapping him in their emotions again.
While Bhua puposely sends Laali away so that she doesn't create any trouble when Ratna's groom to be and his family were suppose to come and see her. When Laali is out in the Village she sees this guy trying to rape some girl, but Laali saves her.
Now this same guy (Mukul) later comes into the haveli with his parents and is the one who will be marrying Ratna. He tells them that he will allow Ratna to study afterward and also he's Shekahr's college freind, so the marriage is fixed and Ratna too is happy. And now they don't let Shekahr go back into the kothri to stay with Laali as they have to prepare for the wedding, which is in 2 weeks.
The next day Laali discovers that Ratna's groom to be is the same guy who she saw attempting a rape on a girl. Laali plans that she will bring his reality in front of everyone, and in order to do that, she goes and gets the girl whom he was trying to rape. But when she asks the girl to tell the truth she lies and fails to recognize Mukul as she is scared of his big status. This act of Laali's makes Loha and others very angry and they claim laali is makign up stories. But Shekhar is not convinced as he knows that his Laali can never think about lying. Laali makes several attempts to talk directly with him, but each time there is some obstacle.
Gangiya and Ranvijay try to take further advantage of this situation, and provoke Loha against Laali. Loha knows that this marriage will take place at any cost as it will bring him many benfits, and he tells Kaushalaya to explain to Laali to not interfere or otherwise he will make her handicap as he just needs the waaris from her womb, not Laali herself!!

Ok so I will miss some parts and land directly to the wedding day. Laali is still determined to break the wedding!! She comes up with a plan where she get's Mukul drunk, and tries to record all his crimes on her tape recorder. Meanwhile Sideshwari finds out about this plan, she provokes Ratna and gives her a gun, so she can finish Laali for once!! When Ratna goes to the room, she overhears Mukul's confessions and is shocked. Mukul grabs the gun from her. A shot is fired, hearing this Kaushaalaya rushes there, she too find out Mukul's truth. Everyone else is outdoor's busy in the wedding celebrations while all this drama goes on the terrace. Kaushalaya manages to get hold of the gun while Mukul threatens to kill ratna. Kaushalaya shoots him, and then accidentally she shoots Ratna as well. Both dies, and Laali takes the blame on herself. Kaushalaya looses her self control, while Laali is taken away by the police.
Shekhar too develops a deep hatred for Laali, as he holds her responsible for the deaths. While the eveil gang find out that it in reality it was Kaushalaya who shot Ratna. They also see Kaushalaya planning to go and reveal all of this to the police. But before that they manage to bribe the cops through Mukul's minister dad so they can kill of Laali. Kaushalya finds about this plan, and begs Shekhar to save Laali.
The cops are taking away Laali and are planning to kill her in an accident, but Shekahr arrives, there, he manages to pull Laali out, and all the cops die in the accident. Shekhar still hates Laali and asks her to go away from there. Laali remains quite about the murder.
While Kaushalaya at home overhears Gangiya and Sideshwari's conversation saying that it was her who gave the gun to ratna, and how they got Laali killed too by bribing the officer.Kaushalaya threatens to expose them, but they hit her in the head and basically kidnap her and hide her unconscious body in the haveli.
Loha and other comes back only to find Kaushlaya missing, Sideshwari and Gnagiya keep mute, but they do tell the truth their crime partner Ranvijay. Nandini goes to pray for Kaushalaya's wellbeing, where Laali is staying. Laali overhears her, and asks her if she can go home with her in disguise.
Nandini brings Laali home as a servant. Laali hides her real identity with her veil. During her stay there she manages to find out that the three mafia are involved in Kaushalaya's missing. She tries different ways to find out, but all are useless. Eventually Laali manages to find out Kaushlaya who was hidden away in the haveli's dungeon. When everyone else is away doing Rtana's pooja, she frees Kaushalaya. Later Laali goes to the pooja, where she revelas herself to Shekahr and tells her the entire truth and also that she is pregnant.
While the mafia too return to the house, to take kaushalaya out of the house and fix her somewhere. When they see Shekhar there, they posion Kaushalaya. Shekhar manages to find her though , but she just reveals that Laali is innocent.
