As Sandip of Aek Chabi Hai Padoss Main, Varun plays an orphan who is ready to help everyone in Colonel Kunj, the mohalla where he stays. He is also writing the script for the show. So far he has written two episodes and directed them as well. Before this serial Varun had directed a few episodes of his serial Astitva… Ek Prem Kahani.
Varun says, "I have directed two episodes of the show and sometimes I have also helped my directors in directing some episodes. Whether it is acting, writing or directing, nothing is easy. You have to work hard in each and every field. It was good experience. Right now I'm going to write some more episodes. My writer and I share the work load. So in the future I'll write for serials. Plus, I would definitely like to become a full time director."
"I also enjoy reading, Amritlal Nagar is my favourite writer and Nacho Bahut Jamke is my favourite book. I don't enjoy poetry at all."
"My character is never ignored in the show. After some time the focus will be on Urmi (Suhasi Goradia) and my love story."
Varun and his father V.M Badola who is also an actor are working together for the first time in this show.
Varun is married to actress Rajeshwari, both had participated in the very first season of Nach Baliye a dance reality show. Though they didn't win the title, they became popular. Varun Badola has done serials like Astitva… Ek Prem Kahani, Des Main Nikla Hoga Chand and Rabba Ishq Na Hove and films like Charas, Hasil and Main Meri Patni Aur Woh.
