Television actress Suhasi Dhami, who is working in Zee TV's "Yahan Main Ghar Ghar Kheli", says she has a bent towards flamboyant roles. But admits they are not accepted in the television industry.
"I always look forward to very flamboyant kind of roles. I'm very keen on doing them, but in our industry these kind of roles are not accepted. Our audience prefers tears but personally I have a bent towards roles which have zest and zeal in them, " Suhasi told.
"The character that I play (in the show) of a very patient and submissive kind of a woman is not the real me, " she adds.
After playing young and aggressive Abha in "Yahan Main Ghar Ghar Kheli", actress Suhasi Dhami has taken on the role of a homemaker in new show "Housewife Hain...Sab Jaanti Hai". She admits being a homemaker is a challenging job.
"I am not a housewife myself, but I have seen my mother and my grandmother who have been homemakers. I have seen how they used to manage the household chores and I know it is not an easy job," Suhasi told IANS.
The show aims to convey that being a housewife is not a cakewalk.
"We often take housewives for granted, but the fact is that they are smart in their own way. It is very difficult to take care of small and pitty issues. Through our show, we want to send out a message that housewives shouldn't be taken for granted. It is a light-hearted show, which will also put light on various social issues," added the actress.
The show went on air Monday on Zee TV.
Suhasi came into spotlight with TV show " Ek Chabhi Hai Padoss Mein" in 2006 and went on to do another popular show " Yahan Mein Ghar Ghar Kheli".
In a short span, Suhasi says, the industry has instilled a lot of patience in her.
"This industry has taught me to be patient. And whatever I have done, I have always given my best in it. Even if it is a small role, you should give your 100 percent and leave the rest to others," she said.
Suhasi Goradia Dhami is quite excited about being a part of Nach Baliye 5 (Frames) with her stock broker husband Jaisheel Dhami(and brother of well known actress Drashti Dhami). "Taking part in a dance reality show and dancing normally are two completely different ballgames. Out here you really have to push the envelope with different concepts. Along with that there is always the added pressure of getting the right comments and good voting percentages as well," she explains. So what kind of dancer is she? "I am not very good with my feet but whatever I do is with full passion," she replies.
Here Suhasi admits that her husband who is more adept at dealing with figures on the balance sheet has had a real tough time to pick up the art of dancing. "We needed to do the figure 8 on the dance floor which he could not do. The poor guy is really working hard. Luckily for him his business partner is very cooperative and lets him spend as much time as possible in rehearsals. During some days he is breaking his back for as long as ten hours a day."
A very competitive Suhasi adds that she is not too happy with their last two performances. "We will need to really up the ante in the coming rounds. In this process, we are also learning a lot. Normally where do you have the time or a teacher to show you the moves? But when you have a goal you really raise the bar. For instance recently when our choreographer told us that we will do the fire act, we immediately agreed and this is something we would not have even thought of doing before even in our wildest dreams."
Suhasi who is also a part Aaj Ki Housewife Hai... Sab Jaanti Hai on Zee TV answered the question that she will get added benefit of being a positive bahu by admitting, "I am here because I am part of the industry. Having said that though my husband is not from the industry he is also getting support due to his hard work. All you need after all is a stepping stone."
Since she is doing a daily show on a rival channel, how does she do time management? "The actual shooting is just once or twice a week, so it is not a problem. However rehearsals are an issue. However I am glad that my production house (Film & Shots of Housewife) is very understanding. They have been always let me go early whenever I have requested for time off. In fact they encourage me by saying that they will always vote for me."

After gaining immense popularity playing the role of Swarnabha, in "Yahaan Main Ghar Ghar Kheli", actress Suhasi Dhami will once aging to be seen on the small screen soon. After her previous show, "YMGGK" ended in July 2012, Suhasi started shooting for her new show, which coincidently will also be for the same channel 'Zee TV'.
Earlier titled "Gaziapur Ki Housewife", the show it seems has been rechristened as "Biwi Hai Sab Jaanti Hai" by the production house. Apart from Suhasi the show also stars actors like, Aniruddh Dave and Himani Shivpuri. It is set in the backdrop of Uttar Pradesh.
The show is about a couple played by Aniruddh and Suhasi, essaying the roles of a cop and a journalist respectively. After her marriage Suhasi is asked by her husband to quit her job and look after the household affairs. The show highlights the trials and tribulations of a working couple.
Actress Suhasi Dhami is set to return to the tube. She will soon be seen as a multi-tasking housewife Sona in the new show " Housewife hai... Sab Jaanti Hai".
The 24-year-old became a household name as Swarn Abha in daily soap " Yahan Main Ghar Ghar Kheli".
In "Housewife...", which will be aired on Zee TV, Sona will be seen quitting her job as a journalist to become a housewife. She brings her in-law's chaotic house in order. Suhasi says she connects to her role very well.
"I am extremely glad to be back on Zee TV with my role of Sona in 'Housewife Hai ... Sab Jaanti Hai'. The very premise of the show excites me as I feel strongly about the subject," Suhasi said in a statement.
The actress feels that housewives play an important role in keeping everything in the house intact and they should not be underestimated.
"Households that run like well-oiled machinery will come to a standstill and families will fall apart if these hardworking women stop doing the job they do! Yet, they are constantly made to feel like they do not make a significant contribution," she said.
The show is directed by Gulshan Sachdeva.
