You'd be concerned about your sister, but you wouldn't act like a complete ditz regarding the chance that you could get married to another guy. Simi doesn't seem to care at all. She even goes to Abhi wonders why he's tense.
Plus, if you are in this stage of a relationship with someone, you do talk about these things with them and she doesn't even want to confide in him?

Hi there. The people making the characters look like complete fools are the writers by introducing a new character in Nukul to compete with Abhi for Simi's hand in marriage.
Uh . . . the writers' predilection for inane situations hardly translates to characters looking like fools . . . if you consider the story line thus far, the current state of affairs in not unwarranted . . . never mind the loony-tune lines spoken by Mrs. Taneja (what's Tarneja?) about sparing the apple of her left eye (the right is reserved for Abhi 😊) any entaglements with a 30 year old single sister-in-law (Geez!!) . . . 'doting' family members coming to the rescue to match her up with a promising prospect doesn't extend to utter incredulity . . . especially since the doings of our Romeo and Juliet are not common knowledge (watch out for the fireworks when THAT is revealed - crazy Mrs. Taneja will faint for starters 😕) . . . any port in a storm . . . Nakul fits right in - from the standpoint of drama . . . that he's a dweeb is quite another thing (I take that back about his 'nifty' duds - who wears suits like that anymore?) . . . shouldn't make it hard for Simi to send him packing . . . not that that will immediately result in smooth sailing for S&A . . .
I mean she's got the best of both worlds now - Abhi and Nukul, so she can pick.
Best of both worlds?!! You seriously think Nakul presents competition?!
Simi has always been a coward and believes she has to get married.
Always a coward?! She's played the sacrificial lamb for a while now but surely that does not equate to being 'cowardly' . . . how would she think otherwise anyhoo . . . consider her lifestyle so far . . . she didn't even know what a crush was all about 😕 so a sucker for tradition she is . . .
She can't make an execuse if her father approves.
She can't?!! Sure she can! She'll play her Dad like the piano if she has to, but I cannot see things going that far . . . Mr. Sethi is much less of a sucker for tradition than his darling wife . . . gawd, I sure hope so!
Abhi is in no position to marry her; if she tells anyone she will have to give a reason and she really can't come up with a good one.
I think she can. 'Uh . . . gee . . . Dad . . . I'm not attracted to this fella' wouldn't cut mustard? She can be completely silent about losing her heart to that other cutie 😊 And I'm at a loss to understand why Abhi is no position for matrimony . . . dad's rolling in dough . . . shops left, right, and center . . . so money is no object . . . worse come to worst, Simi can support the 2 of them . . . women in this part of the world do that all the time (only to have the fella run off with someone else) . . . which reminds me, when does she go back to work?😊
She even tells Abhi time and time again we cannot meet anymore in secret. So what does that mean? She doesn't care to see him anymore?
No . . . only that the secrecy makes her uncomfortable . . .
She's more concerned about what other people think than finding a way to meet the guy she is supposed to like and/or love?
Laila . . . surely it's not unreasonable to expect someone of Simi's background (remember the part about the crush?) to have to work her way out of completely unfamiliar territory (mangled metaphor I know) . . . she's not the one sporting the Superman T-shirt - remember 😊 And wasn't there a post on another thread where S&A are at India Gate . . . well after dusk . . . both having told those 'concerned' that they were off on vastly different errands 😊
she treats him like a doormat
Like when?! 'What's happening? My head's reeling' is probably closer to the truth than treating him like a doormat . . . she has only recently come to terms with her own feelings . . .
Manju is overjoyed, but then again, she'd be overjoyed if you put a horse in a pair of pants and had him show up at the door as a rishta for Simi - she's so desperate to get her daughter married off.
This perspective is as old as the hills . . . have you read Austen's 'Pride & Prejudice?' . . . Mrs. Sethi and Mrs. Bennett could be sisters . . . in the latter's case she actually approves of the scoundrel her airhead daughter elopes with . . . and then has to marry . . .

Yes, when the creative team creates an unnecessary character and has the key characters put in a predicament of stupidy, then they are made to look like fools. Second, if you pay attention, Nukul is Abhi's teacher and even Abhi himself realizes he has competition. Whether you think he is not competiton doesn't matter. The writers are telling you he (Nukul) is competition.
Yes, Simi is a coward, if she had guts she wouldn't be a sacrificial lamb and she would stand up for herself from day one and refused the marriage even with RB (then of course we'd never have a show 😉)but she stood there like chump change and had to get Abhi and her dad out of the mess she was in. Was she seriously planning to have an intimate relationship with RB??
I didn't see SImi try to get any papers out of Rajeev's house - it was Abhi. She hasn't even thanked him for it to this day. In fact she insulted him and told him to butt out of her business. And no, she is not in a position to tell her family that she doesn't want to get married to this guy Nukul. Remember the scene when her mother gave her options and she (Simi) said she "didn't want to be a burden" and went to the marriage bureau and also apologized to Mrs. Sharma?. If she really wanted her mother of her back she had the chance then and she didn't take it. How is she going to get out of this marriage proposal?? If she says she doesn't want Nukul, then what's her excuse - she does not have one. It's going to be even harder if Rajender Seethi likes him. Attraction has no meaning in the Seethi household. Even a blind person couldn't be attracted to Rajeev Bhala and the family were so excited about getting Simi married to him. So for Simi to say she's not attracted - she couldn't even use that excuse with him and it was the best and most believable one? Plus attraction has no meaning in desi households. What's attraction to them? He has a good job and he's from a good home, and you've had 10 plus rejections - what else matters to them??
Plus she has done nothing for Abhi; she expects from him. She tells him to get her out of her predicament at home and with Rajeev Bhala (remember the phone call and he tells her he knows how to make her happy??). He keeps giving and in return she gives him nothing. That's a one sided relationship. That's treating someone like a doormat. We all notice it here in the US (we're a group of friends 4-6 of us who watch the show together - we live five mins from each other). We have all said, what's there to like in Simi?? Serious. Simi is supposed to be girl rejected by men, so when Abhi falls for her - What is it that Abhi falls for? Abhi does all for her and she's done nothing except say one prayer to Matarani for Abhi's safety.
Also, if you like someone you don't go on about not wanting to meet with them in secret. If you want to end it, be honest and end it. Don't beat around the bush. Sure they go on their walkabout at Indiagate, it's the only evidence we have that the Nukul storyline may be shortlived. Thank goodness.
Yes, when does she go back to work (LOL) I am so glad that you noticed that too!!! I think she's not going to work for three months. No wonder the family is a financial mess!! Abhi cannot marry her - remember the talk he had with the guru where he said he was not in a financial position to ask for her hand in marriage? He also does not see his father's money as his money. Plus, Simi is only a part-time lecturer and they don't make that much. Will she make enough to support both of them and will Abhi go for it?? So this is not an option,
Yep, the concept is as old as the hills but it's Manju Seethi's thinking and as long as she thinks like that, Simi is going to have to figure out a way to get her of her back. My suggestion is Simi should just tell her family she's a lesbian. I think that should work😛😉

right now he is seeming to be the ultimate mr. right...and i too loved the way he treated anita..hehe....bt i think in the future there is some mystery in store for us...there will be something abt this guy..some past....some weird behaviour...something which will be disclosed later on...bcoz frankly he is too susheell..sanskaari..good natured...perfect...to be true.....so there is something hidden out in his character...so i think eventually he will turn out to be mr. WRONG..

very possible. Actually his treatment with younger one and woman is wrong. On one side he worships Manju showing his good side on the he treats Anita like some bad spoiled brat in hr own sasural. Same way ghe respects RS and treats abhi like a little kid. I admitted I liked im first time he was introduced but the minute he opned his mouth to say things I said this guy is phoney. He is just too good to be true and faking his niceness.

girls one more thing you are forgetting simi is in her own house and being alone with abhi where she can be caught anytime being intimate with him. She already got caught by anita and heard earful from her. She is the elder daughter of her house and can not take such risk. Since tehy want to keep their rishta secret.
They are not so called prfect couple in the eyes of socieity and family members because of their age and a class difference. and can't afford to get caught.
why didn't abhi defend simi when anita told her aap aaj kal apne pairome ulzake girti raheti ho sambhalo apne kadam. Simi wasn't happy as they both were invloved in intimacy. Abhi should have said something that time.I know he was angry and upset.

I agree with you Ramas yes the biggest problem is that not considered couples in view of the company (although they do not care) and Anita is a girl who likes history and Abhi poor Simi he looked with eyes saying excuse for his sister that THERE can be nothing if he had responded Anita will have asked questions and is not the solution that Simi is not of concern does Nakhul not that she knows no one wants the married with him she has a more pressing urgency sister she is a sacrificial lamb (as someone said) I do not think she's going to let this time I'm sure it was ready to go against his mother saved for Neetu

the prob with nakul is tht he seems to be fake..if he is fake or not tht i cant predict..bt he definitely looks fake at present....see we have 2 person in front of us
ABHI--he too is good..helps all..respects elders..has all the traditional values..is sensitive..bt he doesnt show off..he does wht he feels right...he doesnt act as if he is 100 % perfect...he has his weaknesses..he is nt always right..he is sometimes wrong.sometimes in the gray zone..so he is a character which is more acceptable...as along with the positives he has certain negatives too..
NAKUL--he acts like he is mr.perfect...he has the values ..bt it seems like he is forcefully trying to be all sanskaari and all..bcoz seeing him it looks like he is showing off a lot...his character though shown as a good guy seems fake

SO the major difference is both r MR.Right bt Abhi is true while Nakul atleast to me seems fake.. 😊
