...Cause you are the piece of me, I wish I didn't need,
Chasing relentlessly, still fight and I don't know why...

...If our love was tragedy, why are you my remedy,
If our love was insanity, why are you my clarity...

Chapter 2. Twists, Turns, and Catch

"Here, sir."  "I faxed all the papers to the number you gave me."  "I brought the fax report as well.

"Table pe rakho", a gruff voice answered.

"Sir, you said you would choose the leader for the next project?"

"..."

"Sir?"

"Maine tumhaari baat sun li."

"Toh agle project ka leader mai-"

"Tumhe aisa kyun lagta hai ki tum leader hone ki kabil ho?"

"I have all the qualities, sir, of being a leader."  "I'm confid...," his voice faded away.

Professor Vardhan stood up and kept walking till he met him eye to eye.

"Mr. Randhir Singh Shekhawat."  "Do you think you can lead your team?"

Upon noticing Randhir's confused face, Vardhan decided to be a bit more straightforward.

"Do you think you can lead Sanyukta?"

*********************************
"You're all set!"

"Thank you," Sanyukta sighed, finally releasing the breath that she had been holding.  She never did like the whole "hospital" atmosphere.

Underneath all that bandage wrap, her foot was now swollen very terribly creating a purple cloud all over her ankle.

"You're welcome!"  "After all, it's my job to take care of young impulsive kids like you."

Sanyukta smiled at the cheerful nurse.  For some reason she felt much better talking to her.  They had been talking the entire time her leg was treated.  It felt like forever since she talked to someone who reminder her of her friend, Kanika.   Sanyukta felt like staying with her for the rest of the day but she had Professor Vardhan's class in an hour so she had to get going because with her foot in this condition it won't be easy getting there on time.

She tried getting up, falling in the process.

"I got you."

He grabbed her arm, helping her up.  She looked up into his warm amber eyes thanking him for his help.  He was kind enough to go and bring the nurse to the classroom instead of letting her walk all the way.  He was the same one who had tried to help her up before, when she was paralyzed on the ground.  Abhay, he off-handedly introduced himself trying to initiate a conversation to divert her attention from the pain while the nurse was treating her leg.

"Come back tomorrow and I'll change the bandage for you, alright?"

She nodded her head in confirmation before heading out with Abhay.

Randhir was walking back from Vardhan sir's office, thinking over what the Professor had told him.  'Would he be able to lead Sanyukta?'  'It was already difficult dealing with her as his partner.'  Being her leader was something he had to think about seriously.

'Che, she's always running around trying to interfere in my work!'  She didn't listen to his warnings much less his instructions.  He remembered the first time he had warned her about those stupid red wires.  In the end, what does she do?  She blows up the entire place! Just the thought of that stupid expression that she makes irked him.  It was like a light bulb turns on in her head and off she goes! Being her leader sounded so tempting but just as much challenging.

But most importantly, how would he convince her into accepting him as their team's leader?

*********************************

She winced.  She had to get to class in less than 30 minutes and here she was looking like an idiot trying to limp across the empty hallway.  She swore she would get her revenge for this. It was sad. She was only 18 and already planning to murder someone. Pushing her murderous thoughts aside, she tried putting weight on her foot one more time.

'You can do it,' she thought back to the nurse's encouraging words. 'Come to think of it, she didn't even ask her name.'

'Stupid, Sayu.'  Here she was worried about someone's name when she was running late for Vardhan sir's announcement.

'He did say it was very important," she vaguely remembered.

"Come on, bhaag," she overdid it with the encouragement and ran for real only to twist her leg and fall forward.

'Aaj ka din hi bura hai,' she finished thinking before closing her eyes slowly like she was falling asleep, as her entire body was sent crashing to the ground.

Except she didn't hit anything.

"You should thank me, you know."

A voice brought her back to reality.

She knew that voice!

"Tumhe Mr. Floor ko kiss karne se bachaa liya."
