Pyaar Mein Twist Part 6

Kripa walked into the canteen the next morning, intent on talking to Prithvi. Josh too, if he would even let her come near him. She spotted Prithvi and immediately moved to sit down next to him, but before she could, she heard someone whisper in her ear.

"Hello, love." She jumped and turned around to face Angad Khanna.

'Just when I thought my day couldn't get any worse,' she thought.

"Jesus, Angad! You scared the hell out me!" Kripa said in a venomous whisper.

"I just want to greet my cough girlfriend on this fine Wednesday morning," he said, smiling. Angad draped an arm around her shoulders. Kripa didn't bother trying to pull away. What was the use? She noticed him smiling and it surprised her.

'Wow! Is he actually smiling? I've never seen him smile before… only smirk,' she thought. Prithvi looked over at the pair, disgust written on his face. Kripa, sensing the awkwardness, took Angad's arm off her shoulder.

"See you later," she said, no trace of malice in her voice. She took a seat next to Prithvi.

"Morning," she said brightly, trying to lighten the mood. Prithvi raised an eyebrow at her.

"Why aren't you in an empty classroom somewhere kissing Angad? It looked like you two were pretty cozy," he said crisply. Kripa frowned.

"What are you talking about, Prithvi?" she asked curiously. Prithvi scowled.

"I saw the way he looked at you, Kripa! He smiled when you started talking to him… smiled not smirked," Prithvi said, looking away from her. Kripa glared at his back.

"What is the problem with that, Prithvi? Why are you so concerned about Angad? I bet you kiss Harshini," she said indignantly.

"She's my girlfriend!" he exclaimed.

"Well, Angad is my boyfriend! Look, Prithvi, I really don't know what your problem is and I don't feel like arguing with you right now. Will you please drop it? I can't stand having you angry at me," Kripa said softly. Kripa stood up, gathering her schedule and exiting the room, Angad right behind her.

"You okay, Kripa?" he asked.

'Wait… am I actually worried about her? What is wrong with me? She just looks so sad… gah! Why do I care? I don't… I'm just… pretending… that's it… pretending,' Angad told himself. Kripa eyed him skeptically.

"Does it really matter?" Kripa whispered.

'Hmm… he actually seemed concerned. What is it with him?' Kripa asked herself.

"I think our plan is working… I know that Prithvi's jealous… we just have to work on Harshini."

Kripa chuckled. How could she even think that he was concerned about anything but himself? Not even for a second. He would always be the same selfish, spoiled snob.

Kripa walked back up to her dorms after discussing 'plans' with Angad. This whole charade was really getting ridiculous. People actually believed they were dating. She swore if she had one more girl threatened her life, she was through with this whole thing. Was it really worth it anyway? Shouldn't she just be happy for Prithvi and let him live his life the way he wants? She was so confused.

'I need to take a walk… or maybe a run,' she thought as she quickly climbed the stairs to her dormitory. She changed into shorts and a T-shirt and put on some running shoes. Running was something the Kripa didn't do often, only when she needed to think. She definitely needed to think right now. She grabbed a book and put it her bag. While she was out there she might as well read a little. She left her dorm, walking down the staircase. She paused at the bottom of the steps to put her hair up in a high ponytail. She glanced over at the couches by the fire and saw Prithvi sitting and doing homework. She sighed, but opted not to say anything to him. She didn't think he would speak to her anyway. She turned and headed for the door.

"Kripa?" she heard him call. Apparently she was wrong. She turned around and looked over at him. "What's wrong?" he asked, sounding concerned. This was the first time he had actually acted like her best friend since she had returned to school. Kripa shook her head.

"Nothing you can solve, Prithvi," she replied. Prithvi knew she only went out and ran when she needed to think. He always seemed to know when something was bothering her. He was perceptive like that. She definitely couldn't talk to him about her current problem though. It involved him. Kripa quickly left the room before he could say anything else.

She jogged lightly through the hallways until she finally reached the front doors. Pushing them open, she started jogging faster, running around the fairly big pond. She was so preoccupied with her thoughts, that she didn't notice someone watching her.

After running for 20 minutes, Kripa slowed down to a fast walk, cooling down.

'Well… that was refreshing,' she thought as she stopped under a large willow tree by it. It was cool outside, so she wasn't sweating that much. It was turning into autumn fast. She noticed that leaves had already begun to change colors and fall from the many trees surrounding the school. It was already late September. She sat down under the willow and took her book out of her bag. She sat down to read.

Angad had seen her running through the castle and had followed her outside, watching her run around the lake. He noticed that she had taken a seat under a large willow, and approached her carefully. He didn't want to startle her and be punched.

"Hey, Kripa," he said. Kripa didn't seem to hear him. "KRIPA," he called, a little louder this time. Kripa jumped, startled. She saw Angad standing in front of her.

"Hello, Angad," she greeted.

"What are you reading?" he asked curiously. Kripa showed him the front of the book and he read the title. Pride and Prejudice. "I should have known," he commented, amused.

"What?" Kripa asked. He laughed.

"How many times have you read that book?" he asked her. Kripa shrugged.

"This is about the fifth time this month. Why?"

"Just curious," he said, smiling. Kripa rolled her eyes.

"Is there something you wanted?" she asked him.

"Are Prithvi and Josh talking to you yet?" he asked her.

"I don't know. Prithvi has started talking to me again. I don't know about Josh… I haven't seen him since that Chemistry class yesterday," she told him. He nodded.

"I'm sure it'll all work out," he assured her. She nodded in agreement.

"I hope so. It would be silly to throw away years of friendship just because I'm pretending to date…," she paused, not continuing. Angad got the hint.

"Me," he finished for her. Kripa looked away, ashamed.

"It's not your fault… well… it kind of is, but I agreed to go along with your little game, so it's partly my fault also."

"We're both to blame, I suppose."

"Yeah." Angad sat down beside her. He was tired of having to look down to talk to her.

"Are we actually having a civilized conversation?" he asked. Kripa laughed.

"I guess we are."

"Who would have thought," he mused. Kripa raised an eyebrow at him in question.

"Who would have thought what?" she asked. Angad smirked.

"That you and the… idiot would ever get along," he said. Kripa laughed again.

"You just called yourself an idiot!" she exclaimed. He laughed.

"Yeah, I guess I did," he confirmed. Kripa smirked evilly.

"I could use this for blackmail," she muttered. Angad still heard her.

"I wouldn't do that if I were you."

"Oh, why not?" she asked coyly. He mirrored her smirk.

"Because then I'm just going to have to do this," he announced. He stood and grabbed her around the waist, throwing her over his shoulder. Kripa screamed in surprise.

"What are you doing?" she demanded. "Put me down!"

"Not until you promise to never repeat that," he taunted. He walked closer to the pond.

"Don't you dare throw me in that pond, Angad Khanna!" she exclaimed.

"Give me one good reason why," he told her. Kripa racked her brain for a reason as to why he shouldn't throw her in the lake.

'I'll punch you into next Thursday? No, that wouldn't work… I can't punch him in this position,' she thought.

"Time's up!" he announced. He unceremoniously threw her into the pond. She screeched and splashed someone near the middle. It was pretty deep for a pond. He smirked in triumph and waited for her to come sputtering to the surface. He waited several minutes before getting worried.

'Oh no… what if she can't swim?' he thought frantically. Making a decision, he dived into the pond and started swimming out, looking for her. 'Where the hell is she? This water is cold.'

"Angad dearest!" he heard someone call from the shore. He saw Kripa standing on the bank, dripping wet.

"I never knew you cared so much about me!" she yelled out to him. He scowled. How did she get out of the water without him noticing?

"I wasn't looking for you… I was… taking a swim. Yes, that's it. I felt the urge to take a swim," he told her. He began swimming back to shore. He got out of the pond and stood next to her. Kripa laughed at him. His hair was hanging loosely around his face, and his clothes stuck to him like a second skin.

"You look good wet," she told him, smiling. Angad scowled at her. She sobered up, looking thoughtful for a moment.

"I think we need to talk…," she told him. He nodded to let her know that he was listening.

"I don't think this whole scheme is working out. I mean, I know Prithvi is jealous… but what about Harshini? Maybe we should give up this whole thi…," she was cut off by him kissing her. Kripa was surprised at first, but kissed him back. He pulled away after a moment, looking into her eyes.

"What was that for?" she asked. He shrugged.

"I had to shut you up somehow," he informed her. Kripa snorted. "I think our plan is working, don't give it up. It'll all work out in the end, stop stressing."

"Fine," she sighed.

"Good. I've got to go, see you later," he told her. Kripa watched him as he walked away. What was with him? Why did he kiss her? And why didn't she pull away?
