Chapter 43

Part 43 –  Nisha: "Aapko yeh romance karne ka waqt lagta hai?"

 

             Nisha walked in Eklavya's room to find a terrified Isha. She no longer needed the crutches. She did have to walk really slowly but at least she didn't need the crutches.

 

N: Isha? Kya hua? Why do you look so pale?

I: Di, it's you! Oh my Gosh! Eklavya was right here and he left–

N: Eklavya? Here? Are you day dreaming, Isha?

I: No, I'm serious, di!

N: Ok great! I just came to ask you if you're done all the shopping. Because you never know you, at the last minute, "Oh I forgot to buy this!"

I: I bought everything I needed.

N: Ok. If you need me I'll be in the kitchen. And don't get your hands ruined Isha!

I: I won't

 

             Nisha walked out of the room, careful not to ruin her henna as well. She walked down the stairs one at a time with her almost fully recovered foot. She went into the kitchen to see if anybody needed any help.

 

Tanya: Nisha, how on earth are you going to help us with henna on your hands?

N: Oh, um

T: (Smiles) its ok. You just rest right now. Shaadi ke baad sab karna.

 

             Tanya went back to the cooking and Nisha sat down by the dining chairs. If she couldn't help, she would sit here and talk to her future saas. Maybe she'd find out something about Manthan. Manthan…She hadn't seen him all day! According to Tulsi dadi and the others, the wife-to-be and the husband-to-be couldn't meet before marriage.

 

Tanya: Manthan ke bare mein soch rahi ho na?

N: Huh? Oh, uh, no (turns red) woh –

T: Hota hai…Shaadi se pehle, you can't sleep, eat or function like a normal human at all.

 

             Nisha smiled awkwardly. Suddenly, she felt a strong arm clasp her mouth and pull her away. She was about to scream when she recognized the strong arms. It was Manthan. She was shocked to see him there.

 

N: (whispers) Manthan? Aap yahaan?

M: Yes. Now be quiet and let's get outta here.

N: Jee?

M: I'm going to take you out! Come on!

N: But ladka ladki don't meet before –

 

Tanya: Nisha? Are you ok?

N: Oh, um, yeah, I am. I was just talking to Isha here.

Tanya: Theek hai. If you need anything just ask me.

N: Alright. Thank you.

 

N: Manthan, go! If your mom, catches you here –

M: And what if I don't go?

N: Don't be stupid!

            

             Manthan grinned at her and pulled her closer by the waist. This was the perfect opportunity because she couldn't do anything with her henna-covered hands.

 

N: Manthan, let go! Agar Tulsi dadi ya phir Tanya –

M: And what if I don't let go?

N: Manthan I'm serious!

M: Oh, and I'm not?

N: Manthan, please! Let me go!

M: Theek hai. On one condition.

N: (Sigh) What?

M: Say I love you.

N: Kya? Aapko yeh romance karne ka waqt lagta hai?

M: Ok then I'm not leaving!

N: Manthan, please, let me go!

M: Now it's I love you and a kiss.

N: Kya!? That's not fair!

M: Yes it is and if you don't say, "I love you" and kiss me in the next 30 seconds, I'll add another condition.

N: Manthan, please!

M: 20 seconds!

 

Tanya: Nisha! Come here! I've made some mango burfis. Come and taste them!

N: (yells) Jee, ayi! (whispers) Manthan! Leave me!

M: 5 seconds!

N: Manthan, you're so stubborn!

M: 4, 3, 2 –

 

             Nisha sighed at herself. She would get back at him for this! She stood on her tip toes and gave Manthan a slight kiss and quickly said, "I love you." But suddenly, Manthan's face had turned all pale. Tanya had come out of the kitchen and had seen the whole thing.

 

M: Woh – mom, we were just –

Tanya: (puts her hands over her eyes) I didn't see anything! Waise, Manthan you better go back to your bachelor party before anyone else sees you here.

M: Uh, thanks mom.

 

             Manthan looked at Nisha a little flustered. Nisha was completely shocked that Tanya had seen the whole thing and was bright red. Manthan stealthily walked outside while Nisha stammered something to Tanya about going to the washroom.

              

                                                           -Pooja
