Chapter 13

Harish laughed and said that he isn't talking in Spanish that both mother and son are making confused faces, he is just simply pointing to the big dangly earring that is struck between the sofa surface and the cushion.

Karuna smiled and looked at Shaurya. She said that she was very happy that he was finally over his snobbish ex Archie. Shaurya said he was already over her and she wasn't snobby, they just weren't made for each other and about the earring, it was a friend's. He said he just showed his friends around the day before and they played cards in that room... that's when she might have dropped the earring.

He spoke with the perfect expressions. He was indeed a good actor. Karuna and Harish completely bought it. Or did they?

The family spent some quality time together, watched a couple of shows on Netflix coz Netflix . Finally they spent some time that was absolutely free from the tension of the bunch of enemies and their commitment to work with the authorities. Shaurya was no longer supposed to act about the supposed cold vibes between him and his father. He sat with his father with his father's hand on his shoulder, just like to good old days. It is generally a normal that the father and son do not have a good relationship with each other but it was completely different for him and his father. They were always pretty thick and would even pull pranks on others. But they were acting just because of the situation they were in.

On the other side of the town, Mehak, Nehal and the elders of the family were sitting in their hall sipping a cup of hot tea and talking about anything and everything. Kanta dearly loved Mehak and so did Jeevan.

Dheeraj Sharma and Jeevan Bhalla had been friends since ever. They went to school together, started their careers together though in different Fields but together. They got married in the same year. Even their wives became good friends too. Eventually they both grew pregnant. Kanta was due first but unfortunately she had a still birth. She was broken and didn't know how she would cope with such a loss. Her baby boy whom she waited for so long wasn't alive anymore. Meera helped her cope with the difficult times.

When Meera delivered Mehak, she was by her side. She was the first one to see Mehak,to hold Mehak. Meera never stopped Kanta from loving Mehak like her own. She called Kanta Chachi and Jeevan as Chachu even though there was no blood relationship binding them together. Even after her accident they stood as the pillar of her support.

Kanta suddenly changed the direction of their chit chat and started talking about people who overcame their physical disabilities with their determination. Mehak knew where the discussion was going but kept her eyes on the tea mug in her hand. Kanta again asked her that it had been two years since the accident and Mehak shouted try again and finally stand on her feet because Kanta wouldn't live forever  to take care of her and eventually when her Chachi would require care as she wasn't getting any younger.

Kanta urged her to visit the physiotherapist once again as she was only 22 and it was important for her to stand on her feet. Kanta told her she wanted her to get married have a lot of children and then it would be Nehal's turn to get married and then finally Aman.

Before Mehak could say any further, Kanta said that Mehak was her eldest child and she cared for her. Last time when Mehak left the physiotherapy and snapped all her links with everyone, it broke her heart too but it was two years after that and now she was supposed to get up.

Mehak didn't say anything and just pushed and just sipped on her tea. She just turned a deaf ear to Kanta. But when she knew Kanta wouldn't let of the topic easily, she said she would think about it. Soon she told Nehal that she wanted to lie down and she was tired. Nehal took her to the room and made her lie on the bed.  She sat down on the bed working on her laptop , brainstorming on a very important project. There was more than usual silence in the room. Mehak knew something was off with Nehal. She tried to probe her little. Nehal told her that she wasn't talking to her. Mehak pouted and asked what was the reason behind the same.

Nehal told her that she needed to move on and for that she would have to start with forgetting that Armaan but it wouldn't be possible if she fasts for him and do all the taam jhaam too. Nehal told her that she saw the changed set of earrings and how she dropped one of them supposedly while she was hurrying back to Nehal herself. Nehal said she knew there wasn't a car trouble. She said she was very angry on Shaurya too for letting you practice what you wished for. 

I forbid you to meet him till he clarifies why he instead of getting you to leave your fast helped you complete it and let you be as stupid as you wanted to be. Mehak at the time of your accident,we weren't in a financially stable position given how we were almost bankrupt but still we all managed to take you to the leading medical professionals to get you help with your condition after you had a fallout with your family and A rmaan. You were showing at least some signs of improvement hut you just abruptly left. I know that you have build up your business again and have helped us with ours too but you would have to agree that it was with everyone's hardworking and more over it was never about the money Mehak, we are 13 months apart and I understand everything you feel, we practically have no age gap but I also understand what my mother and father want for you Mehak, they actually live you like their own and even I consider you my sister. You have to try Mehak, for us.
