We've all seen what happens when Senior Inspector Abhijeet is accused of crimes he didn't commit: the case is solved, everyone acts like it didn't happen, and Abhijeet is left to pick the pieces. This fic explores what happens when he decides to take the road less travelled by and gains new friends along the way.
Spoilers for CID and Adaalat. Alternate ending (sort of) to Azaadi ki Jung (CID) and Kaal ka Haivaan (Adaalat).

I used to watch CID and Adaalat quite avidly. I still do on YouTube. While I acknowledge the very obvious and genuine affection between the members of the CID team, I find some things rather disturbing: how almost no one appears to stand up for Abhijeet, who goes through a lot for the team, how Daya-- otherwise a good friend-- is quick to accuse Abhijeet whenever it's Abhijeet versus one of his romantic interests, or how Dr. Salunkhe-- for no apparent reason-- seems to have a personal vendetta against Abhijeet (viewers of the Giraftaar series, for example, will remember how he repeatedly refused to believe in Abhijeet's loss of memory and the names he called Abhijeet because of it), to name a few. I understand these officers have to strike a delicate balance between personal and professional feelings, but that does not excuse their often toxic and insensitive behaviour. This fic seeks to explore what would happen if Abhijeet stood up for himself and found he wasn't alone.
I have attempted to portray the characters here as grey. It is not, and will never be, my intention to bash these characters, all of whom are our childhoos favourites. I'm very sorry if I hurt someone's feeling. I don't intend to.
