The film industry and fans are mourning the loss of a director whose stories left a strong impact on audiences.

Ghosh began his career as an assistant director and made his directorial debut with 100 Days in 1991, a suspense thriller that gave him his breakthrough. In the years that followed, he directed several successful films including Dalaal, Teesra Kaun?, and Yugpurush, working with many of the industry's top actors. His filmography includes more than 15 titles, spanning thrillers, drama, and crime sagas.

Among his most notable works was Agni Sakshi, which dealt with the subject of domestic abuse and became a turning point in his career. The film, starring Manisha Koirala, Nana Patekar, and Jackie Shroff, received both box office success and critical attention. He followed that with Ghulam-E-Musthafa, a crime drama led by Nana Patekar and Raveena Tandon, which over time gained a loyal following.

Colleagues from the industry paid their respects after news of his passing surfaced. Actor Rituparna Sengupta, who had collaborated with Ghosh, shared her condolences and acknowledged his influence as a storyteller. She described the filmmaker as a guiding force whose work continues to inspire.

Ghosh's last directorial venture was Mausam Ikrar Ke Do Pal Pyar Ke in 2018. Although he had stayed away from the spotlight in recent years, his contribution to cinema remained well remembered. Known for mixing emotionally layered narratives with commercial elements, Ghosh’s direction often gave prominence to character depth and socially relevant themes.

Family and close acquaintances will gather to pay their final respects in Madh Island, Mumbai. His wife, Gouri, survives him.
