"When you are sure to take the wrong path, how tough is it to do that!" - Ashutosh Gowariker on 'Kaala Paani'

Apart from acting in the film Ventilator back in 2016, it has been over two decades since we have seen the actor in Ashutosh Gowariker light up the screen. Still remembered for his roles in the film Kabhi Haa Kabhi Naa and the series C.I.D., Gowariker went on to make legendary films and focused on direction for almost twenty years.

But now, after quite a long hiatus, Gowariker is back on the screen as an actor as he features in Netflix's upcoming series, Kaala Paani, alongside an alluring ensemble cast that also consists of Mona Singh, Amey Wagh, among others.

At the trailer of the launch of the show, we had the chance to ask a special question to the man as we went on to ask that, from the looks of the trailer, the show explores the challenges of isolation and survival. How did he manage to bring in the emotional depth and complexity of his character that added to these themes of the overall narrative?

To this, he responded by saying, "My character is Admiral Zebran Quadri in the show. Evacuation is something that is prime in the show; the safety of people is what is prime for anyone in that position. However, here it is a case of when you have two paths - there is a good path and a wrong path. You are sure that you don't have to take a good path due to the circumstances, and you have to decide to take the wrong path because that is the only way to do it. How difficult it is to do that is what is the main conflict of my character. We have to make decisions like these in life as well, at times. Here, we have to escape, but what path is to be taken - that is what the character is all about and what I bring to the table."
