Vibha Chhibber drew inspiration from Dina Pathak while preparing for her role as Janaki Maa

Sony Entertainment Television's recently launched show, ‘Mehndi Wala Ghar’, introduces viewers to Ujjain’s Agrawal family, touching upon the complexities of familial bonds and creating intrigue about whether the Agrawals will remain united in the face of adversity. The show puts the spotlight on the consequences of drifting away from the joint family setup, in the name of individualism and modernization

In the ongoing track, viewers have witnessed how the resilient Mauli (played by Shruti Anand), is determined to reunite the fractured ties within the Agarwal household for her beloved Manoj Papa (played by Karan Mehra), with the help of her grandfather, Hari (played by Kanwarjeet Paintal).The drama is set to intensify further as Janaki Maa (played by Vibha Chibber),  refuses to forgive and accept the sons who walked away from their family – Vijay (played by Rushad Rana), Ajay(played by Ravi Gossain) and Manoj, ruining Mauli’s plan to bring them all back to the Agrawal Sadan.

Having won hearts with her impeccable and illustrious career both in the TV and film industry, Vibha Chibber beautifully expresses her thoughts about her character, Janaki Maa, saying, “Janaki is a character with great depth; she has always been the family's pillar, representing the enduring love and tenacity that holds them together. Bringing this complex character to life has been rewarding. While Janaki Maa may seem very stern and reluctant to forgive her sons, deep down, she has a soft side as well, which she chooses to hide from the rest of the family. While the role is challenging, some of her traits just come naturally to me as I am a mother as well, and those emotions just flow naturally.”

Talking about her preparation, Vibha Chibber added, “Drawing influence from the famous veteran actress Dina Pathak ji, who played Nirmala Gupta in the iconic film "Khoobsurat" (1980), I've tried to endow Janaki's character with a similar blend of power and affection. I think audiences will relate to her persistent love for her children, as the show highlights the value of unity and familial support. And, right from the time that we began shooting, the set doesn’t feel like a place of work, rather it feels like my second home because we are like one big family here. Be it rehearsing, having chai breaks, lunch, or playing pranks – we are all in it together, like one big happy family."

With Janaki Maa being adamant about her decision of never letting Vijay, Ajay, and Manoj back in Mehndi Wala Ghar, will Mauli be able to change her view and bring the Agrawal family back together?
