Its Valentine's Day! I mean you all know that already! But, what is is about LOVE that hasn't been said or mentioned before. We have come across the cliched in-love couples sharing their experiences, their journeys, how did they propose etc.
However, television, being the entertainment juggernaut that it is, has showcased numerous love stories over the years. From the quintessential ones to the most unusual ones, love stories always manage to get that special place in everyone's hearts! Period!
Today, we list down the various TYPES of love stories in soaps that has ruled television over the years and still hold an irreplaceable place in everyone's memories.
Childhood sweethearts (Best Friends Turned Lovers)
The most vintage type of love, where childhood friends form a bond so special that they fall in love with each other. As our mighty Shahrukh Khan from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai' said, Pyaar dosti hai (Love is Friendship). The Great Indian Love (Love After Arranged Marriage)

This type of love can aptly be presented as India's flag bearer. Apart from television, in our normal lives, over hundreds and hundreds of years, couples have married each other without having complete knowledge about each other. But, a gradual understanding leads to an evergreen life-long love story. Corporate Ishq (Office Love Stories)

This may not really be a type, but it certainly is an instrumental backdrop for various love stories over the years. Be it a nerdy secretary's extra care for her boss developing into a love story or two colleagues falling in love with each other in the office surroundings, a corporate atmosphere has worked wonders in brewing up instrumental love stories. The love-hate relation (Foes Turned Lovers)

We talk about Newton's law of Opposites attract each other' all the time when we want to give a metaphor to any particular love story. However, it fits comfortably where opposite personalities who are at loggerheads initially end up becoming soulmates. Woh Pehli Nazar ka Pyaar (Love At First Sight)

Not many agree to this form of love, but then some debate by saying, "All it takes is that one look, one moment to know if he/she is right one." We wouldn't want to get into the solidity of this statement, but we know it has certainly been an important part in our television love stories. Second Innings love (Love After Second Marriage)

Like arranged marriage is India's flag bearer, a second marriage after the debacle of the first marriage can be termed as modern India's flag bearer. Today, if the first marriage doesn't work out due to any situation, a second marriage is not looked upon as a not-to-be-done thing. And some iconic television soap stories have proved it. Maniac love (Obsessive Lover's love)

Well, not all love stories have been lovely' enough! At least not for both parties! With time passing by, television has showcased some intense love stories, where love wasn't just an emotion, but an obsession. One person would be so in-love' with the other one, that he/she would forget the difference between good and bad, giving us some brilliant psychotic love stories! Tyaag-Majboori wala Pyaar (Accidental Love story)

One of the most interesting type! As ambiguous as this type of love might sound, it has formed the premise of several love stories on television. How often have we witnessed a marriage slated to happen between two people, but one of them doesn't appear on D-Day and to save the family's reputation' that person is made to marry brother/sister of the intended bride/groom. And bang!! You get an awesome lovestory! Janmo Janam ka pyaar (Re-incarnation Love story)

We may have progressed in terms of modernizing Indian television viewing, but we cannot deny that the most ancient beliefs still hold a place in several love stories. A section of the audience believes it and accepts it, where a re-incarnation leads to a love story just like the old times.' Paagalon wala Pyaar (Not-so-normal love story)

The feeling of love certainly knows no bounds! Television accepted this and have presented some love stories which were ethereal, unique and unconditional. A sane beautiful girl falling in love with an insane mentally challenged boy became amongst the popular type of love in recent times.
