#TRENDING: Reality Shows are BEATING daily soaps on BARC list and how!

There was a time when Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii, Kumkum - Ek Pyara Sa Bandhan, Kabhi Sautan Kabhi Saheli, Kutumb ruled the small screen. They made the concept of daily soaps popular. They ran for several years and kind of framed the way the TV at this point looks like. 

However, small screen has a current trend nowadays. Supernatural shows, love stories, social reform stories, reality shows and others. While daily soaps have been keeping viewers engaged for a long time, it seems reality shows and weekend shows are slowly taking over. 

Wonder how can we so sure about it?

Well, Kumkum Bhagya, Kundali Bhagya, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah has been constant on the BARC list since a long time. And they used to grab top positions while the weekend reality shows used to somehow manage a place among the top 10. Kaun Banega Crorepati, Indian Idol, Bigg Boss, Dance Plus are some of the reality shows that made it among the top 10 during their run time. 

Since Naagin 3 went on air, the show made it difficult for any other daily soap to beat it and claimed the first spot for a very long time. While it comes only on Saturday and Sunday, the daily soaps come regularly yet failed to beat it popularity. Although, recently, Kundali Bhagya toppled it and claimed back the first position. But since the reality shows like The Kapil Sharma Season 2, Khatron Ke Khiladi and Super Dancer have come, not only Naagin but Kundali Bhagya, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai and other shows are failing to make it to their earlier spots. 

Last week, The Kapil Sharma Show Season 2 claimed the first spot and this week, Khatron Ke Khiladi took that it from it. This week's BARC shows Khatron Ke Khiladi at the first position, then The Kapil Sharma Show season 2, followed by Naagin 3, Super Dancer and then Kundali Bhagya in the top 5 positions. 

With this, it can be easily deduced that the current viewers are more interested in seeing the natural talents and not the drama that the makers are providing. While the drama keeps on repeating in a loop and sometimes give us all the reasons to gush over, the current trend is of reality shows. 

More specifically, weekend shows are ruling the charts and all of them have claimed their positions among top 4. Maybe it is also because they keep you at the edge of the seat and every week you are eager to know if one's favourite contestant make it to the final round. Also because of the extra drama and emotional content that the shows give apart from showcasing the talent. 

On the other hand, The Kapil Sharma Show Season 2 marks Kapil's comeback after all the hullaballoo and it gives all the reasons for the audience to laugh out loud. It also features popular Bollywood and other stars who also share anecdotes about their life and shared laughter with the hosts. In overall, these weekend reality shows give bits and pieces of every emotion and make one's weekend sorted and enjoyable. 

Trends keep on changing and it is interesting to see if the daily soaps take back their place or the reality shows keep on winning hearts. Only time will tell!
