Toonz Animation wins industry award

Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 15 (IANS) Technopark-based Toonz Animation India Pvt Ltd has won the Nasscom super pitch 2007, the company said here Tuesday.

The award was given at the Animation and Gaming Expo held at Grand Hyatt Mumbai last week. It was given by the National Association of Software and Services Companies (Nasscom).

According to a company press release, Toonzs' creation 'Shree Gajanan Society' won the accolade as well as hearts of the audience.

The storyline of 'Shree Gajanan Society' centres on the cross-cultural unity seen in India. It is about a typical housing society where people from all over the country live.

This award is given as part of Nasscom's endeavour to promote creation and development of original content in Indian animation industry.

Prosenjit Ganguly, senior creative designer of Toonz, said: 'The relevance of the theme and the closeness one could feel to the concept would make it appealing to the Indian palate.'

P. Jayakumar, CEO of Toonz Animation India, said this prestigious award was recognition of the creative talent that Toonz possesses in its kitty.

Toonz Animation, a major provider of animation to top US and European producers, is part of international business conglomerate Comcraft Group, based out of Geneva.

Founded in 1999, Toonz's client list includes Marvel, Hallmark, Paramount, Disney, BBC, Sony Entertainment and Cartoon Network.

The Animation Magazine has heralded the company as one of the top-ten multimedia studios in the world to watch. The sprawling, 18,000 sq ft studio is based at the Technopark campus here.

Five hundred artists work in this facility staffed with top creative professionals from across the world, including the Philippines, Singapore, Canada, the US and India.
