The 1993 action thriller film, Khalnayak, directed by Subhash Ghai, is still a crowd favorite. The story centered on the escape and attempted capture of terrorist criminal Ballu (Sanjay Dutt as antihero) by Inspector Ram (Jackie Shroff) and his girlfriend officer Ganga (Madhuri Dixit). And, after years of the long wait, the sequel of the classic film is underway.
For all the Khalnayak fans, here’s a piece of good news! Sanjay Dutt's production house has shown interest in making the film's sequel and the actor has confirmed that the groundwork on the sequel has begun, reported ETimes.
Interestingly, the name of actor Tiger Shroff has been in talks by the makers for the sequel. While Sanjay will reprise his role in the sequel, a source stated that the makers have reached out to Tiger for a pivotal part in the film as Ram’s son.
Filmmaker Subhash Ghai owns the original rights of the film and is yet to sell those for the sequel to be made. However, a spokesperson from Dutt's production house has stated that they have initiated talks with the filmmaker and are hoping to acquire the rights soon, added the report.
