Housefull 5: Sajid Nadiadwala submits two versions, CBFC grants U/A certification

With just days to go for its release on June 6, 2025, Housefull 5 has taken a unique step. As per a report by the Pinkvilla, Sajid Nadiadwala, who has written and produced the film, has submitted two separate versions of the film to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). Interestingly, both versions have been granted a U/A certificate, which is not a common practice in mainstream Bollywood.

The reason for this dual submission is still unknown. However, sources close to the film suggest that this move could be part of a bigger plan. “This could be the rarest case where a film gets two censor certificates. There is a reason for it, which the makers will reveal soon,” said a source linked to the production.

The comedy film has already been in the spotlight thanks to the launch of its teaser in May. The song Laal Paari from the film has also gained traction online, adding to the buzz. Featuring Akshay Kumar and Riteish Deshmukh in the lead, the fifth instalment also stars Abhishek Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, Nana Patekar, Jacqueline Fernandez, Sonam Bajwa, Nargis Fakhri, and Fardeen Khan, among others.

What sets Housefull 5 apart is its ensemble of 24 actors, making it one of the largest casts in the franchise. The film’s runtime is 2 hours and 43 minutes—longer than any of the previous Housefull films. While the typical confusion-filled storytelling is still there, sources say the narrative format is completely new, aiming to surprise viewers.

Both cuts of the film were viewed and cleared by CBFC, a move that has sparked curiosity. The trailer is scheduled to release on May 27, kicking off the final countdown for the film's theatrical debut.

Whether this dual version strategy will pay off remains to be seen — but it's certainly got everyone talking and guessing already.
