The film excels in conceptualizing the whole life of a young girl who is diagnosed with Pulmonary fibrosis and to everyone’s surprise, this is how real biographical looks like. Cudos to Shonali Bose...

The Sky is Pink features the story of a lovely couple Aditi Chaudhary (Priyanka Chopra) and Niren Chaudhary (Farhan Akhtar) from the narrative of their daughter Aisha Chaudhary (Zaira Wasim) who was diagnosed with Pulmonary fibrosis.

The Shonali Bose directorial - The Sky is Pink might be one of the sensible biopics Bollywood has seen in a while. With the lack of sensibility, attaining the credibility of a true story can be a task and the addition of unnecessary drama/fiction can be a buzz killer; while on the other hand, The Sky is Pink is one of the sophisticated storylines that manages to prove the point without any argument. However, the piece lacks a few details and probably it is noteworthy that these minor errors don't steal the light.

The film excels in conceptualizing the whole life of a young girl who is diagnosed with Pulmonary fibrosis and how the young minds have been entrusted with the secret to achieving true happiness through the archives she left behind after her death. It applauds the courage of a youthful girl who practically lived her whole life with a death sword hanging above her chest.

So far, Shonali seems to be battling quantity with quality, and guess what! Like her previous films, the director has managed to pique the audience’s interest with the unconventional use of space throughout the frames and conceive the whole narrative flooded with technicalities studded with lesser over-dramatized sequences. She has tried to bring reality to this family drama and with all the necessary elements, the director has built a great structure through her vision.

Well, PeeCee has returned to Bollywood after 2015, and the film had to be huge; considering quality content. PeeCee did manage to offer her best however, Shonali’s vision went out of proportion due to the aesthetics of her character. Visually, her character gets complicated with every passing minute, as the length of her hair symbolizes the character's age. The film features her shorting her hair with her growing age.

The actress has been excellent through the film but had the director given a thought of these minor settings, there would have been a new possibility to discover in order to watch this drama.

Meanwhile, there’s no denying Farhan looks extremely elegant through his whole act. The 45-year-old knows what he’s getting into and the trajectory of the maturity his character goes through is just astounding.

Zaira Wasim and Rohit Saraf who play the characters of Aisha Chaudhary and Ishaan Chaudhary respectively have brought colours to their on-screen appearance with the utmost joyousness of the sibling's chemistry.

In conclusion, the film is a bit far-stretched however, it respects the facts of the true story and all the drama could be a bit much to take as far as emotions are concerned. The film promises to be an emotional rollercoaster and definitely is a one time watch. If you wish to see what a contemporary biographical actually looks like? One really needs to watch this film.
