Tabu Teams Up with Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan Again for the Spooky Laughter Ride 'Bhooth Bangla'

Tabu, known for her stellar performances, is set to reunite with Akshay Kumar and director Priyadarshan for the upcoming horror-comedy Bhooth Bangla. The actress, who gained global recognition for her role in Dune: Prophecy, announced this new project on Instagram. Sharing a photo of a clapboard surrounded by candles, she wrote, “Hum yahan bandh hain (we are trapped here),” and tagged her co-stars Akshay Kumar, Jisshu Sengupta, Wamiqa Gabbi, and music composer Pritam. The clapboard revealed the film is presented by Balaji Telefilms.

Tabu is returning to the horror-comedy genre, where she has already left a mark. Fans fondly remember her as the twin witches, Manjulika and Anjulika, in Anees Bazmee’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2. She also starred in Rohit Shetty’s 2017 hit Golmaal Again, proving her versatility in blending horror with humour. Notably, Priyadarshan and Akshay Kumar were part of the first Bhool Bhulaiyaa in 2007, making this collaboration even more nostalgic for audiences.

Fans were quick to express their excitement on social media. One user commented, “Manjulika meeting Dr Aditya Shrivastava (bow down emoji),” referring to Tabu and Akshay’s respective roles in the two Bhool Bhulaiyaa films. The reunion has sparked curiosity, as both the genre and the collaborators are close to Tabu’s heart.

Tabu has worked with Priyadarshan on multiple occasions, including Hera Pheri (2000), Virasat (1997), Snegithiye (2000), and Raakilipattu (2000). Her chemistry with Akshay Kumar has also been appreciated in earlier films like Tu Chor Main Sipahi and the cult classic Hera Pheri.

Interestingly, Bhooth Bangla also marks a reunion for Tabu and Wamiqa Gabbi, who shared screen space in Vishal Bhardwaj’s Khufiya in 2023. Meanwhile, Akshay and Priyadarshan are teaming up again after delivering hits like Garam Masala and Bhagam Bhag.
