Actor Sooraj Pancholi has raised eyebrows with his recent remarks on the rising trend of paid podcast appearances. In a conversation with Hindi Rush, while promoting his film Kesari Veer, Sooraj claimed that actors are reportedly paying up to Rs 30 lakh to feature on well-known podcasts. He added that he too was offered such a deal but chose not to take it.
The actor, known for his 2015 debut in Hero, shared the insight casually during the podcast. “I have heard that there are a few actors who charge about Rs 30 lakh to do a podcast. Is this true? I am just wanting to know because I have come here for free. Pay me at least Rs 30,000,” he said with a laugh. The light-hearted tone sparked amusement among the hosts, but Sooraj continued with a more serious note.
He clarified, “Yes, I have heard that too, that the podcasters who have good viewership charge Rs 30 lakh to get you on their podcast. I have received such offer too. But it makes sense as they give you viewership. They have put immense hard work to grow their page so I think why not.”
This candid admission has sparked conversations around how the digital space is evolving for celebrities and content creators. While traditional promotional methods continue, some actors now reportedly opt to pay for visibility on high-traction platforms. Sooraj’s remarks suggest that this has become a norm for many, though not all in the industry agree with the approach.
Sooraj Pancholi’s film career began with Hero, co-starring Athiya Shetty. The film earned him the Filmfare award for Best Male Debut. He went on to appear in Satellite Shankar (2019) alongside Megha Akash and his father, Aditya Pancholi. He also featured in Time to Dance opposite Isabelle Kaif.
His latest release, Kesari Veer, hit theatres on May 23. Directed by Prince Dhiman, the historical action film also stars Suniel Shetty, Vivek Oberoi, Aruna Irani, Barkha Bisht, and Akanksha Sharma. While the film is still finding its audience, Sooraj’s podcast revelation has become a talking point off-screen.
