Jiah Khan was depressed due to THIS reason before her death reveals Zarina Wahab: 'She was calling Sooraj…'

It was on June 3, 2013, Sooraj Pancholi's life took a dramatic turn, after actress Jiah Khan was found dead at her Mumbai residence. Accused of abetting Jiah's suicide, the then-aspiring actor faced a decade-long legal battle. The case concluded in 2023 with a CBI Special Court acquitting Sooraj due to insufficient evidence.

Zarina Wahab, the mother of Sooraj Pancholi, has recently discussed her son's emotional experience and the circumstances surrounding Jiah Khan's death. In a conversation with Nayandeep Rakshit, Zarina clarified that Sooraj and Jiah were not in a relationship at the time of Jiah's passing.

"I want to clear one thing that a lot of people think about Sooraj. When they (Jiah and Sooraj) were friends, Salman was launching him. Then I told him that Salman is going to launch you, (so) stop (this)! Then he went and told her, my parents don’t want us to meet and your mother also doesn’t want us to meet. So let’s break up. Then she said, ‘can I come and meet you sometimes?’ So he told her, ‘you can come and meet me as a friend but not as a girlfriend.’ The incident happened a month before their breakup. No one knows about this. In fact, she was going to South for a Telugu film around the same time in June. On the spot, she was rejected and she was very depressed."

Zarina Wahab disclosed that Jiah Khan attempted to contact Sooraj Pancholi on the day of her death. Zarina explained that Jiah was in a state of distress and tried to reach Sooraj. However, he was occupied with his classes due to a shoot and missed her calls. Upon checking his phone later, he texted her, offering to speak if she wished to call. Tragically, by then, Jiah had already passed away. Zarina expressed her dismay over the accusations against Sooraj, stating that it was deeply unfair. She acknowledged Jiah's sweetness but emphasized that only the divine knows the complete truth of what occurred.

Zarina also disclosed that Jiah was upset after not being cast in a Telugu film, a role that ultimately went to Rakul Preet Singh. Sooraj had shown support by sending her flowers when she mentioned her interest in pursuing opportunities in the South. Zarina concluded that, regardless of the events, there were misunderstandings. She acknowledged the difficulty of constantly clarifying the situation and emphasized the emotional toll it took on Sooraj.
