Sooraj Pancholi releases a statement post winning in Jiah Khan suicide case: I won my dignity

On Friday, Sooraj Pancholi received good news in the 2013 Jiah Khan suicide case as he was acquitted of abetment charges by a special CBI court in Mumbai. The court stated that there was a 'paucity of evidence' in the case. After the verdict was announced, Sooraj Pancholi released an official statement stating that not only had he won the case, but he had also regained his dignity and confidence.

In his statement, Pancholi expressed gratitude to the court, his legal team, family, friends and well-wishers for their unwavering support during the entire legal process. He also stated that the past eight years had been extremely challenging for him and his family, but he remained hopeful throughout the entire process.

In his statement, Sooraj Pancholi said,

“The Verdict has taken 10 long painful years and sleepless nights, But today I have not only won this case against me but I have also won my dignity and confidence back, it took a lot of courage to face the world with such heinous allegations, I hope and pray to God that nobody goes through what I have gone through at such a young age, I don’t know who will give me these 10 years of my life back to me, but I am glad that this has finally come to an end not only for me but especially for my family. There is nothing bigger than peace in this world.”

For the unversed, the Jiah Khan suicide case has been in the public eye since 2013, when the actress was found hanging in her apartment. Sooraj Pancholi, who was Jiah Khan's boyfriend at the time, was accused of abetting her suicide. However, after eight years of legal proceedings, Pancholi has finally been acquitted of all charges.
