On April 28th, 2023, a Mumbai special CBI court pronounced its final verdict in the highly publicized Jiah Khan suicide case. The late actress' mother, Rabia Khan, had accused Sooraj Pancholi, Jiah's boyfriend at the time of her death, of abetting her suicide in 2013. However, after 10 years of legal proceedings, the court acquitted Sooraj of all charges citing a "paucity of evidence" in the case.

Sooraj, who was accompanied by his mother Zarina Wahab, expressed his relief on social media after the verdict was announced. He posted on his Instagram stories, "The Truth Always Wins! #GodIsGreat". Sooraj's family must also have felt a great sense of relief after the verdict was announced.

The case began in June 2013, when Jiah Khan was found hanging from the ceiling of her Mumbai house. The police arrested Sooraj on June 10th of the same year, and he was later granted bail on July 3rd. The case has been highly controversial, with many speculating about the circumstances of Jiah's death and the role that Sooraj played in it.

Before the verdict was pronounced, Rabia Khan told the media that she wanted the truth to be revealed and believed that Jiah did not take her own life. She also stated that her family had spent 10 years exposing the truth based on factual evidence, and it was now up to the court to draw the right conclusions.

The judge informed Rabia Khan's lawyer that she had the right to appeal against the judgment if she so desired. The verdict has brought the case to a close after a long and drawn-out legal battle.
