Actor Sonu Sood’s Twitter handle has been flooded with requests from ‘Migrant Workers’ to reach home. He continues to direct his efforts towards relieving the plight of migrant workers and students who are stuck in the different parts of the country.
The coronavirus scare has shocked the entire nation as workers continue to hike towards their native homes amid the nationwide lockdown.
Amid all the problems and issues, the 46-year-old has rushed into the scene and worked relentlessly to help the workers reach home. From arranging busses and providing food for the needy, Sood has done it all.
While he intends to help each and every one of them keeping track of each and every worker might be a difficult task and not everyone uses Twitter. To avoid any confusion and help each and every one of them as per their convenience, Sood has now initiated a helpline number which will help them connect faster and more efficiently.
More so because his endeavour isn’t just limited to Maharashtra, as he has been getting requests from all over India.
Sood recently arranged a chartered flight for 177 migrants stuck in Kerala and sent them back to Odisha. Talking about the helpness migrant workers, the Dabangg actor said, “My phone hasn’t stopped ringing since the day our buses filled with people went to Karnataka. I’ve been missing out on calls and messages, which is why I started the toll free number. That’s also flooded with calls. There are over 70,000 people on the waiting list, and many more contacting us.”
A Hindustan Times report revealed that the actor has booked three trains to send migrant workers stuck in Mumbai to their homes in UP and Bihar.
He further explained that a journey by trains and flights save time and can accommodate more people. “Buses would take longer and also we’d need to take permissions from every state it crosses, which takes time. Thanks to everyone, who has been extending support. Itne saalo se dost hi to kamaye hai maine, wahi abhi mera saath de rahe hain,” he added.
Sood continues to risk his own and his family’s health, and steps out daily so that work runs smoothly. After Union minister Smriti Irani and cricketer Shikhar Dhawan, Ajay Devgn has taken to social media to hail the talented actor's work.
