Sonakshi Sinha opens up on her cop character in Dahaad; says, 'its different from Dabangg's Chulbul Panday

Sonakshi Sinha, the Bollywood actress, is making her debut on an OTT platform with her upcoming web series Dahaad, and she recently spoke about her role in the show after its trailer launch. Directed by Reema Kagti and Ruchika Oberoi, Dahaad revolves around the mysterious killing of women by a serial killer and stars Sonakshi as a brave cop named Anjali Bhati. The series also features Vijay Varma as the antagonist and Gulshan Devaiah in a supporting role. 

In an interview with News18, Sonakshi shared her excitement about being a part of the project and called herself lucky to have landed such a role. She clarified that her character is entirely different from Salman Khan's famous character Chulbul Panday from the Dabangg franchise. She also emphasized the need to have stronger and more realistic women's roles in cinema, saying, 

"We are representing more real and stronger women on screen today. There are so many stories waiting to be told. Dahaad is just one such story that came to me. I think I got really lucky with this one. As an actor, very rarely do you come by these roles that hit you so bad in your face that just makes you want to do it."

Talking about her character, Anjali Bhati, Sonakshi described her as a real, raw, and fearless woman who is determined to get justice, no matter the cost. 

She expressed her hope that her character would become an inspiration for future portrayals of women cops in Hindi cinema. Dahaad had its world premiere at the Berlinale, where it competed against seven other shows from around the world. The series is set to release on Amazon Prime on May 12, and fans are eagerly awaiting the opportunity to see Sonakshi in her new role. With her fierce portrayal of Anjali Bhati, Sonakshi is all set to make a strong impact in the world of OTT content.
