From a beloved TV actress to a prominent Union Minister, Smriti Irani is defined by her resilience and determination. In a candid discussion with Karan Johar on Mojo Story, she shared the personal turning point, her "Agneepath moment," which significantly influenced her extraordinary career path.
Reflecting on her life's soundtrack, Smriti Irani shared a pivotal shift: her anthem evolved from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai to Agneepath, symbolizing her journey's transformation. She explained, “I am avenging possibly every kid who never had an opportunity to equally compete. Agneepath, the original version, was about a son who was trying to fulfil his mother’s desire."
“The gore and glory was all about that the son thought that his mother has faced injustice, and I always felt that for my own mother. My mother was made to leave home when I was 7 because she could not have a son. So for me, that was my Agneepath, to get my mother back and give a roof over her head."
Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, a landmark Indian soap opera starring Smriti Irani, is set for a second season. The revival sees the return of some original cast members, including Amar Upadhyay as Mihir Virani alongside Smriti Irani as Tulsi Virani, 17 years after the first season's finale. Upadhyay has hinted at the anticipated air date.
However, fans anticipating the return of the beloved show will need to exercise some patience. A source told the Hindustan Times that the planned launch, initially slated for July 3, 2025, has been delayed due to set modifications.
Amar Upadhyay confirmed this to the Hindustan Times, explaining the reasons behind the postponement. “Yes, it’s true. The set had to be reworked. Apparently, the color combination on screen wasn’t translating the way it should. Ektaa knows exactly what she wants—she’s a perfectionist. And this is Kyunki… it’s not just another show. It’s a legacy and she wants to do everything what’s best for the show."
Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, produced by Balaji Telefilms, initially aired on Star Plus from July 3, 2000, to November 6, 2008.
