The cult TV serial Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi is set to return in a limited-series format, and the makers are reportedly bringing back some of its most beloved stars. While Smriti Irani and Amar Upadhyay are confirmed to reprise their roles as Tulsi and Mihir Virani, a fresh update suggests that veteran actor Jeetendra might also appear in the upcoming edition.
According to a Times of India report, though the makers haven’t made an official announcement, multiple insiders claim that Jeetendra is expected to make a cameo appearance aimed at emotionally connecting with longtime fans of the series. If finalised, his presence would serve as a nostalgic nod to the show's legacy and its significant impact during the early 2000s.
Smriti Irani, who became a household name with her portrayal of Tulsi, is reportedly already filming in Mumbai with tight Z+ security. Sources say she signed the project recently and has begun shooting with co-star Amar Upadhyay, who returns as Mihir. Both actors were recently spotted at Ektaa Kapoor’s residence during her birthday celebration, where discussions regarding the show’s revival reportedly took place.
The reboot, while limited in episode count for now, aims to eventually recreate its original impact. The new season is said to feature around 150 episodes initially. However, there’s a long-term plan in place—Balaji Telefilms is reportedly eyeing the 2000-episode milestone once again, depending on viewer response. Filming for the reboot has already commenced. A promotional video featuring several former cast members is also being developed, possibly including familiar faces like Mouni Roy and Karishma Tanna in cameo roles.
Originally aired from 2000 to 2008, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi became a defining moment in Indian television history. Produced by Shobha and Ektaa Kapoor under Balaji Telefilms, the show redefined prime-time TV and household dynamics for nearly a decade. With Jeetendra possibly joining the reboot, the revival appears to blend old-world emotional resonance with new storytelling ambitions—giving viewers both nostalgia and novelty.
