Smirti Irani is replaced by Padmini Kolapuri in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi

The most popular and powerful character Tulsi Virani essayed by Smriti Irani will no longer grace Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi at Star Plus. It is now sort of official that Smriti will leave the show by end of May.

Rumours were doing regular rounds about the growing indifference between Smriti and Ekta Kapoor. Ever since Smriti Irani’s new show Virudh took off really well in Sony, the actress has been busy in her new show and was giving less time to Kyunki.. Ekta who is very possessive about her flagship show Kyunki who brought her instant fame did not like it at all and decided to replace Smriti Irani.

Padmini Kolapuri Poonam Dhillon and Gautmi Gadgil were shortlisted to replace Smriti but after much consideration Padmini Kolapuri is mostly finalized. Padmini Kolapuri si a veteran Bollwood actress who has played the role of young widow in a popular Raj Kapoor movie Prem Rog.

When contacted Star Plus about the change, they reverted back saying that they have received no official confirmation by Balaji yet as it is a weekend. News will be official by Monday

Now the question is will Ekta be able to steer Kyunki Saas Bhi.. without Smriti Irani who has become a household name. Well in the past, she has successfully replaced popular stars like Amar Upadhaya with Ronit Roy as Mihir and Nausheen Ali Sardar with Mansi Roy as Kkusum. Ekta has a strong belief that her characters are popular and not the person playing the role. Well time shall decide whether replacing Smriti Irani as Tulsi was a wise decision or was it more of an ego clash between two powerful personalities.
