Ektaa Kapoor CONFIRMS Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi REBOOT, hints at Smriti Irani's return: 'Politician in..'

Several reports surrounding Ektaa Kapoor bringing the iconic Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi back have been doing rounds for quite some time now. Media reports suggested that this will also mark the return of Smriti Irani to television after decades. Well, amid these ongoing reports, Television Czarina Ektaa Kapoor has now confirmed the news.

Speaking about the same, the producer confirmed the news and said that with the return of the show this time, they are wanting to the hit the 2000 episodes mark which was not completed last time. ''The love we have for this program brought everyone related to it back together to complete just those 150 episodes to reach that 2000-episode mark. This show deserves that,'' Ektaa said.

When quizzed about reports of Smriti's return to the show, the producer, without revealing any names hinted at the politician's return and said, ''We are bringing politics into entertainment, or better, a politician into entertainment.''

Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi remains one of the most popular and loved shows on television. The show premiered in July 2000 and went ahead to enjoy a run of 8 long years, finally going off air in November 2008.

Media reports have been hinting towards both Amar Upadhyay and Smriti Irani being approached to reprise their roles in the reboot of the show. However, none of the two have commented on the same. While Smriti Irani was the Minister of Women and Child Development from 2019 to 2024, and also Minister of Minority Affairs from 2022 to 2024, Amar Upadhyay, last seen in Colors TV's Doree 2, recently fuelled reports of quitting the show after a reduced screen time than what was promised to him.
