Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt starrer Gully Boy continues to be a celebrated film even months after its release. The exciting piece of news about the film getting nominated as India’s official entry for the Oscars in the Best Foreign Language Film category had left the entire cast and all fans overjoyed and beaming with happiness.

However, fans were disheartened when Gully Boy did not make it to the final list. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences had announced the shortlists in consideration for the 92nd Academy Awards which did not include Gully Boy. The ten films that made it to the list are The Painted Bird, Truth and Justice, Les Misérables, Those Who Remained, Honeyland, Corpus Christi, Beanpole, Atlantics, Parasite and Pain & Glory.

The film’s star boy, Siddhant Chaturvedi, who played MC Sher in the musical drama, has now reacted to Gully Boy dropping out of Oscars. When asked whether the news disappointed him, he told Spotboye: “Yes, a little bit obviously. But then, I was happy because for me, it was my first film. So I think I was content with the fact that Gully Boy went till the Oscars. The Jury saw the film, and it received international exposure.”

He also talked about the immense love he keeps getting from all corners of the world.  “I even get messages from all over the world. The film has been widely accepted and loved. So, I'm just happy with that. Awards mile, naa mile, that doesn't matter so much” stated the actor.

Siddhant also expressed that he knew the film Gully Boy would have an impact, but he did not anticipate the massive appreciation coming with this film.  “I was not thinking from that point of view. Mujhe bas itna confidence tha ki kaam milega iske baad. But at the same time, I was very sure about the choices I'm going to make because I really waited for Gully Boy. When I read the script, I knew this is going to have an impact. However, I never knew that it would be so big” he concluded.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Siddhant has bagged the Shakun Batra film opposite Deepika Padukone and Ananya Panday, and will also be seen next in Yash Raj Films’ Bunty Aur Babli 2.
