Shilpa Shetty: Raj and I had been Trying for a Second Child for 5 Years

Everyone was taken by surprise when Shilpa Shetty announced the good news of her and Raj Kundra’s second child yesterday. The couple opted for surrogacy and welcomed a baby girl, who they have named ‘Samisha Shetty Kundra’.

Shilpa shared a glimpse of her baby girl’s arrival and posted a beautiful picture of her daughter’s hand holding onto her finger. Soon, congratulatory wishes started pouring in for the couple, and friends and family sent in their good wishes.

“Our prayers have been answered with a miracle...With gratitude in our hearts, we are thrilled to announce the arrival of our little Angel, ?????????????? ???????????? ??????????a” she shared on Instagram.

In a recent interview with Mumbai Mirror, Shilpa revealed that she and her husband Raj had been trying to have a second child for 5 years. She also shared the tale behind her daughter’s name as she said, “I came up with it when I was 21. I had always prayed for a daughter.”

In her social media post, she had explained the meaning of her baby girl’s name: "Junior SSK in the house. ‘Sa’ in Sanskrit is “to have”, and ‘Misha’ in Russian stands for “someone like God”. You personify this name - our Goddess Laxmi, and complete our family.”

The 44-year-old actress also revealed that she had already signed films when she got to know that Raj and she were going to be parents again. However, her team helped her to manage her schedule so that she could wrap up her work commitments before Samisha’s arrival.

“I had signed Nikamma and had committed my dates to Hungama when I got the news that in February, we were going to be parents again. We cleared our work schedules for the whole month. They helped me complete most of my work before I took the long break in February” Shilpa Shetty said.

Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra tied the knot on November 22, 2009, and have a son Viaan Raj Kundra together. Samisha’s arrival completes the family of four, and the couple is elated with the happy news.
