Shatrughan Sinha gets candid about his love triangle with Poonam Sinha, Reena Roy; says, 'The man suffers'

Shatrughan Sinha and Reena Roy were a much loved pair of Bollywood. Reports of them being a couple even surfaced when he married Poonam Sinha. The Khamosh star was shining in Bollywood at that point, as he reportedly suffered due to his emotional entanglement with two women. He had married Poonam Sinha but ending his relationship with Reena Roy took an emotional toll on him. Years back, he has mentioned in his memoir, Anything But Khamosh, how he was performing in London for a stage show with Reena Roy hours before his wedding.

In an interview with Lehren Retro, the actor accepted two-timing his wife and Reena Roy and the kind of guilt he experienced. He said, “It’s not just the girls involved in the love triangle that are suffering, the man equally suffers.” When the anchor said that he once accepted that he was involved with Poonam Sinha and Reena Roy simultaneously saying, “I remember from the past when you told me you had your feet in two different boats.” He had quipped, “Two different boats? I would say, sometimes I was in several boats.”

Though he did not take the name of Reena Roy he said he is grateful to all the women in his life. He said he did not hold grudges nor did he think badly about any one of them. Shatrughan Sinha said, “They have all helped me grow and become a better person.”

Shatrughan Sinha admitted that he had made mistakes in his life. He said, “It was natural for a boy, who had come all the way from Patna to get lost in the glitz and glamour of the industry. I didn’t know how to deal with stardom. People get lost in all this.” He said he regretted that he did not have any guardian to mentor him. But once he married Poonam, he got better direction and perspective.

He spoke in depth about the situation of being in a love triangle. Sinha said he did not wish to name the person, but he feels grateful for her. Sinha said, “I have received lots of love from her, and have learnt a lot. I have no complaints.”

He added, “When a man is good at heart, and he is having two committed relationships simultaneously, he too suffers a lot in terms of his mental and physical health. You also feel guilty. When you are out with your lover, you feel guilty for your wife at home and when you are with your wife, you feel bad for your lover: Usko khilona banake kyu rakha hai?’.”

Shatrughan Sinha reiterated that a man too suffers immensely. He too struggles to get out of the situation.
