Shahid Kapoor and Mira Rajput came under the scanner over their recent visit to the gym after the Maharashtra government took the unprecedented step of ordering all theatres, gyms, swimming pools and auditoriums to be shut till March 31, 2020.
The celebrity couple was spotted at the AntiGravity Club in Bandra, which raised many questions, like “Was the gym exclusively open for Shahid-Mira?”, “Why did the gym owner not follow the command to shutdown gyms amid the Coronavirus outbreak?”
As per a Mumbai Mirror report, Shahid and Mira spent two hours at the gym, which opened at 5.30 pm exclusively for them. They were papped at the gym, post which the duo exited through a different gate. After spotting the paparazzi they decided to exit from the behind gate to avoid getting clicked. After the pictures surfaced online, the couple was massively trolled for not following the rules and going to the gym amidst coronavirus lockdown.
However, the gym’s owner Yudhishthir Jaising cleared the air as he stated that Shahid was not working out at the gym, and had claimed: “It was only Shahid, Mira and me… just friends chilling on a Sunday evening.”
While Shahid’s PR team has not reacted on the same, the Assistant Municipal Commissioner of H-West ward, Vinayak Vispute reprimanded their act amidst the COVID-19 scare.
Vispute told Mirror, “It was wrong on the part of the gym to remain open, even for one patron. If gymnasiums don’t follow state directives, they will be booked under relevant sections and licenses will be revoked."
