Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, who has delivered two consecutive blockbusters, "Jawan" and "Pathaan," this year, is reportedly being provided with Y+ security cover due to potential threats. According to a report by Indian Express, security agencies in Maharashtra have decided to elevate Shah Rukh Khan's security level to the Y+ category due to perceived "imminent and probable" threats to the actor.
While authorities have confirmed the upgraded security, they have not disclosed the specific nature of the threats facing SRK.
On October 5, the Maharashtra State Intelligence Department (SID) reportedly instructed all police commissioners, district police, and special protection units (SPUs) in the state to immediately provide Shah Rukh Khan with Y+ security, along with an escort scale of security.
Under the enhanced security detail, Shah Rukh Khan will be provided with 11 security personnel, including six commandos, four police officers, and a dedicated traffic clearance vehicle. These personnel will be stationed at SRK's residence, Mannat, in Mumbai. It is important to note that the actor will bear the expenses for this heightened security cover, which will remain in effect until the next high-level committee recommendation and review committee decision.
According to a report by News18, the decision to grant Shah Rukh Khan Y+ security was prompted by threat perceptions following his successful films "Jawan" and "Pathaan" this year. This move comes after a similar upgrade in security for Bollywood superstar Salman Khan in November 2022, following alleged threats from gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.
