The shooting of Jailer 2, the much-anticipated sequel to the 2023 Tamil hit Jailer, is currently underway under the direction of Nelson Dilipkumar. With the excitement growing around its cast, speculations began doing the rounds that Shah Rukh Khan might make a cameo appearance in the film. But what’s the real story?

According to a report shared by Box Office – South India on X (formerly Twitter), Shah Rukh Khan is not associated with the project. Despite the swirling rumours, the report firmly claims that the Bollywood superstar will not be part of the Jailer 2 cast, not even in a special appearance.

However, this doesn’t mean Bollywood is entirely out of the picture. Sources indicate that a major Hindi film actor is likely to join the film in a yet-undisclosed role. The makers have reportedly decided to reveal this Bollywood name closer to the film’s promotional phase.

For those unfamiliar, Jailer introduced audiences to the character of Tiger Muthuvel Pandian, a retired jail warden portrayed by Rajinikanth. The narrative took audiences on a revenge trail that gradually unfolded into a complex heist. With the sequel, the storyline is expected to intensify further, though plot specifics remain under wraps.

The original film boasted high-profile cameos by stars like Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar, and Jackie Shroff. Reports now suggest that they may return in their respective roles. Additionally, industry chatter hints at Nandamuri Balakrishna appearing in a special role. Another strong buzz claims that Nagarjuna Akkineni is being considered to play the film’s main antagonist, though this remains unconfirmed.

Meanwhile, Rajinikanth’s last big screen outing was Vettaiyan, where he played a tough encounter specialist caught in an ethical dilemma. His next major release is Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, scheduled to hit theatres on August 14, 2025. This film stars Nagarjuna Akkineni and Upendra Rao in pivotal roles.

Adding to the star power, Coolie is said to feature a cameo by Aamir Khan and includes Shruti Haasan, Pooja Hegde (in a dance number), and Soubin Shahir in key roles, ensuring another ensemble spectacle for fans.
