Arijit Singh is truly one of the most cherished singers, both in India and internationally. In a recent interview, Shaan shared his admiration for Singh, highlighting the emotional depth of his songs that captivated him. He pointed out that Singh's honesty shines through in his music, enabling listeners to form a personal connection. This deep connection is a major factor behind his widespread popularity.
Every Bollywood fan is enchanted by Arijit's singing, and there's much discussion in the industry about the reasons behind his incredible success. Recently, Shaan appeared on The Ranveer Show, where he shared his thoughts on the Channa Mereya singer and what contributes to his immense popularity.
He explained that every singer has their own unique approach to a song, noting that he wouldn’t deliver a romantic ballad in the same way as Singh. However, Singh’s honesty in his performances is palpable and resonates deeply.
He mentioned that he often finds himself in awe of how Arijit completely surrenders to a song, particularly in his hit Tum Hi Ho from the film Aashiqui 2, featuring Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor. This genuine connection is what captivates the audience, allowing them to feel the authenticity in his singing.
Giving the reference of Channa Mereya, Shaan said,"I thought awaaz phat rahi hai, crack ho raha raha hai, clarity nahi hai notes ka, but that honesty is there and it has come through."
Reflecting on his journey, the Deewangi Deewangi singer shared that when he first entered the industry, singers weren’t allowed to inject their own interpretations into songs. Instead, music composers like Anu Malik and Nadeem-Shravan dictated the direction, and singers were expected to follow that technical guidance.
Today, however, that restriction has vanished, allowing singers to infuse their own interpretations into their performances, which composers then embrace. Shaan views this as a significant advantage for contemporary artists. In this context, he praised Arijit Singh’s unique vocal flourishes, stating, "I love some of his outrolls at the end of the song as he goes into a transfixed mode, which is impressive."
