Sanam Teri Kasam 2: Harshvardhan Rane retorts sharply to Mawra Hocane's comments ; says, 'Didn't attack her'

The makers of Sanam Teri Kasam 2 have announced that Mawra Hocane is no longer a part of the project. They said given the current situation between two nations, it is imperative to put Nation First. Mawra Hocane after the Indian operations on May 7 wrote how the attack on the terror base of Bahawalpur was a cowardly act. Indian officers had carried out a precision strike only hitting the terror hub of the nation. Before that, terrorists killed 27 innocent tourists in Pahalgam after checking their Hindu identity. Their IDs were taken, they were stripped and then shot dead when they could not recite the Islamic verses.

Harshvardhan Rane had said that he informed makers he would not be a part of Sanam Teri Kasam 2 if certain people from old cast were retained. As per the old story, the character of Saru (Mawra Hocane) had died. In all probability, a new actress would have stepped in. But there was always a chance of a cameo by Mawra. After Harshvardhan Rane made that comment on his Instagram stories, Hocane’s team shot back.

She wrote, “We could all hear explosions, children in my country died due to an unjustified cowardly attack, innocent lives are lost… A befitting response by my armed forces have caused frenzy in your country last night.” She was referring to the non-stop drone attack that happened on May 10. Mawra Hocane also said that his statement was a PR strategy.

“Someone I expected to have basic common sense has risen from deep slumber with a PR strategy… While our nations are at war, this is what you come up with? A PR statement to get attention? What a pity!”

Harshvardhan Rane has now replied to the above comment. Sanam Teri Kasam 2’s re-run in the theatres brought Rs 40 crores for the producers. The original film in 2016 had grossed just Rs 9 crores. He wrote on his Insta story, “That sounded like an attempt at a personal attack. Fortunately, I have tolerance to overlook such attempts—but have zero tolerance for any attack on my nation’s dignity.”

“An Indian farmer would pluck out the unwanted weed from his crop—it’s called weeding. The farmer doesn’t need a PR team for this act, it’s called common sense. So much hate in her speech, so many personal remarks. I never mentioned her name or resorted to calling her names. Didn’t attack her dignity as a woman. I intend to maintain that standard.”

Harshvardhan Rane said that he was well within his rights to decide whom he can work with. He said as a patriot he did not like the idea of a colleague who felt India was a cowardly nation. He said, “I simply offered to step down from Part 2. I am fully within my rights to choose not to work with individuals who label my country’s actions as ‘cowardly’."
