'Love Aaj Kal' marks Saif Ali Khan's debut in the 'production sector' of Bollywood. He wanted to cast the love of his life, Kareena Kapoor in his debut production. However the director of 'Love Aaj Kal', Imtiaz Ali had other plans. Imtiaz suggested that Om Shanti Om fame, Deepika Padukone should be casted instead of Kareena. On Imtiaz's request, Saif agreed to sign Deepika as the female lead.

When our Chote Nawab expressed the want to star Kareena instead of Deepika, Deepika was extremely hurt. However, the actress did not show a noticeable reaction. Deepika showed great maturity and commented on Saif's decision accordingly. In fact, the tall beauty stated that she was quite happy that Imtiaz selected her over Kareena.

'Love Aaj Kal' is expected to hit theatres this summer.
