Saif Ali Khan thanked auto-driver Bhajan Singh in person who bought him to the hospital after the attack

Saif Ali Khan recently expressed his gratitude to Bhajan Singh Rana, the auto-rickshaw driver who played a crucial role in saving his life after a shocking attack. Saif met Mr. Rana at Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital before being discharged on January 21.

The actor had been admitted for six days following an attack at his home during the early hours of January 16. The incident involved an intruder, who stabbed Saif multiple times in an attempted burglary. Saif underwent two surgeries to treat his injuries.

Recalling the harrowing night, Bhajan Singh Rana explained how he was flagged down urgently near Saif's residence on Linking Road. A distressed woman called out for help and directed him to rush to the building’s gate, where an injured Saif, accompanied by a child and another man, entered his rickshaw. “I didn’t know he was Saif Ali Khan at first,” said Rana. “He was wearing a blood-stained white shirt, and it was clearly an emergency.”

Without hesitation, Rana drove Saif to the hospital, ensuring he received immediate medical attention. His quick action proved life-saving.

During their recent meeting at the hospital, Saif and his family warmly welcomed Rana, treating him with great respect. Saif thanked the driver personally and posed for pictures, resting his hands on Rana’s shoulders as they smiled for the camera. Rana shared how the meeting was simple yet meaningful.

They invited me to meet them, and I went, though I was a bit late. His family was very concerned, but it was a normal, heartfelt meeting. Saif told me to take care and said thank you, which meant a lot. I also assured him of my prayers for his recovery, Rana said. The auto driver’s modesty stood out as he narrated his experience to the media.

Saif’s attacker, identified as Shariful Islam Shehzad, a Bangladeshi national living in India under a false identity, has since been arrested by the police.
